Badrinath Ki Dulhania updates. Promotions

Mirror was the first to report (May 3) that Varun Dhawan will be reuniting with his onscreen bride, Alia Bhatt, in Shashank Khaitan's Badrinath Ki Dulhania. They were seen two years ago in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. This one is not a sequel but takes the 'dulhania" franchise forward.

This is the actor's look from an introductory scene in the film and his trainer Prashant Sawant informs that Varun plays a desi guy so he needs to look rustic and beefed up. "He had been working out with the look in mind after wrapping up Rohit Dhawan's Dishoom. We needed to increase muscle mass so besides weight training I added more carbs in his diet, like brown rice and sweet potatoes," says Prashant who has been working with the actor since three years.

Meanwhile, after shooting some portions with Varun, including a romantic number, Alia has resumed shooting for Gauri Shinde's next. For now Varun is shooting alone with Sahil Vaid who had played his friend Poplu in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. Alia is expected to join them again towards the end of May.

Prashant adds that Varun spends almost an hour-and-a-half every day in the gym. "He gets restless when he doesn't work out. There are some action sequences that require some prep," says the celebrity trainer. Varun's desi avatar also includes a pronounced North Indian accent on which he has been working for weeks now.
