Wish human rights activists see today episode. The power to forgive a criminal is with the victim or the kin of the victim only. Not some third party who is talking some theory. Just because jayanth asked forgiveness ram didn't leave him. He told the problem. Problem of his vision and then ask him to choose his punishment. Jayanth choose it.with both eyes he had partial vision. Now with one eye he will see properly. Some people know their mistake and take punishment. But some people will have no remorse.Today thanks to misplaced human right activists no one fears punishment. Appeal pe appeal.nirbhaya killers still alive with no remorse and a jisha happens in a town near cochin

Forgiveness should not be an entitlement. And bad actions should not be covered up by sob stories and pretense of remorse.

In Nirbhaya case, the one who was the most brutal of all even surpassing all the limits of brutality is set free after rehab😡. The person is set free on the excuse of age when the irony is that his acts put even adults to shame. Juvenile Justice Act definitely needs some amendments when the crime is as heinous as rapes and murders.

If we particularly talk about juvenile cases, Human rights activists i think work on a thought process that the society cannot be made better by punishment but by self-realization possible through rehabs. But, such thought process is not universal and they shd understand it. In some cases, the criminal does not even have an ounce of remorse and remain as such even after spending time in rejuventn centers. In fact, he is more a threat to society if set free and when is not punished for heinous crimes.

@attubaby the question human right activists ask is the dead will not come back if this person is punished with death sentence. Yes true. But atleast in putting end to such a criminal will save another family having a similar fate.

Juvenile justice rule was amended. Thanks to Nirbhaya's mother and her protest. Yes this criminal got free, but then another one in the same league will not escape

Good point Shruthi,.I have often felt that a swifter as well as a stricter punishment should be given to such people as the ones in Nirbhaya case or even the terrorists who tune themselves into causing such individual or mass destruction...without any visible signs of remorse. What sometimes some human right activists forget is that ,while trying to save some of these criminals ,they completely overlook the feelings and dignity of the victim and their families.

I agree that punishment should not reek of any personal vendetta...but what about justice...justice to the victim and their families!
