Their journey experienced every sort of ups and downs. Perhaps that's what makes it so complete at the end of the day. They rose in love because of how they understood each other's flaws, weaknesses and imperfections and never mocked one other about it. Rather, they protected each other from the pain inflicted by others. They loved each other even during their low times. They trusted each other even when circumstances seemed doubtful. They worked on each other's weaknesses by becoming each other's strengths. Amidst their game of push and pull, they secured a permanent corner in each other's hearts. From there on, she became his "Joganiya" and he became her "Zehnaseeb".
It seems not so long ago when they joined hands to help out their loved ones and some unnamed feelings developed. Some feelings which sparked this need of him always floating around her. Some feelings which made her want to calm him down amidst his anger. Some feelings which left them wondering "Kis taraf hai aasmaan, kis taraf zameen... khabar nahi", every time their fingers touched. Some feelings which left both of them in a trance as soon as their eyes would meet. Some feelings which got the heart humming; "Shayaad yahi hai pyaar" during loud silences. These feelings were confusing, intense yet so real and they would often jump around with a buzz of their own kind. Almost like a "Disco Deewane" celebration.
Her aura left him awestruck in many ways. But prominently it was the way she spread light and hope in his life. She somehow managed to discover the path which lead to the chamber of his miseries and her touch, her smile, her truthfulness started to heal him.
But their growth was underdeveloped initially. There was room for them to grow individually as well as together. Their real test of whether these feelings were forever lasting was when bitterness brewed in because of one's mistake. Could she forgive him? Would she forgive him? A part of her felt totally crushed and wounded. How would she build that trust in him again? Yet deep down she knew she had never really lost his faith in him fully. Their faith in each other motivated him to bring her back. Assure her that their relationship wasn't weak or toxic in any way. That they had the potential to grow as one. That the way she shone for him would be just enough for them to overcome any and every obstacle in life. That together, both "Suljha lenge uljhe rishton ka manjha".
And so the hands become one again. Their eyes began to converse again. Underneath one "Saawali si raat", they confessed their need of each other. He realised her smile was what he loved the most and she realised his friendship is what she adored the most. But they weren't friends yet. Friends would bicker, tickle, make each other laugh, share food and they had done nothing of that sort yet. So what next? "Let's be friends"... She requested in the most pleasing tone. Because he would be the one friend shed be grateful to have. Someone so selflessly caring, so honestly protective and so wholeheartedly dedicated to every bond of friendship he ties himself to. She didn't just want to be with him because her fireflies glowed when she crossed paths with him, she wanted to be with him for the hundred and one reasons he brought a smile on her face. For all the reasons he made her heart skip a beat. For all the reasons he would make her slightly blush as she thought about him late at night in her bedroom. And so they became friends. The kind of friends who promise to understand each other's silences. The kind of friends who not only made efforts to learn about each other's similarities but also respected the differences in their ideas and thoughts. They cried, together, laughed together, tacked obstacles as one...only to realise that "Tujhko jo paaya...toh jeena aaya". He had become a part of her and she lived as a part of him. Not only did they realise the depth of their affection for each other, they started nurturing the understanding they both carried in their hearts and embraced the idea of "Aise tera mai...jaise mera tu..."
I think what stands out for me throughout this journey is their ability to never let go of each other no matter how difficult a certain situation may be. They remained each other's "Hamnava" They knew how to give each other time, how to give each other space but at the same time, they never drifted apart from each other, not even during the time of "Judaai". Their journey taught us to never fear making mistakes. Because making them strengthens the bond of love. They taught us that "Dooriyan" between two people, provides them with the motivation to try harder and conquer their love. That it makes them realise "Tu jo hain...toh main hoon".
Between two selfless people, there is always room for misunderstanding because they tend to think more about their partner rather than themselves. But these misunderstandings are the life lessons which ensure that every obstacle from here on can be overcome.
I think many people misunderstand the valentines phase to be one where Manik hated Nandini. However, I think hate could never exist in Manik's heart for Nandini for she was the person who taught him how to look beyond hatred, anger and darkness. She brought love, life and light into his existence. That phase was of great significance in their relationship as it enabled them to reach out to one another with even greater understanding as a result of their heart's cry of "Ishq Bulava". Be it subha or "Shaam"...It introduced them to their mutual need of each other. The finally started grasping a better hold on their heart's voice of "Na seekha kabhi Jeena Jeena kaise jeena...na seekha jeena tere bina hamdum..."
The journey from there on become one primarily of growth. Trust, understanding, faith and hope became the new definitions of their love. They learnt that whilst they were two individually imperfect people, together, they formed a perfect hamesha. Their love continued to blossom with passing ups and downs. It wasn't always picture perfect. Many obstacles arose, many villains crossed their paths but what always kept them united was their will to fight it out together. They never felt the need to whisper anything as painful as "Hamari Adhuri Kahaani"because of how they had promised each other a lifetime. During times of grief, they balmed each other's wounds. During times of happiness, they formed a mellow bubble of their own. They realised they needed no one else as long as they had each other. However the biggest realisation was probably that it was a beautiful and content world whenever she laid in his arms and he played with her hands because both their souls now hummed...
"Mere dil mein jagah Khuda ki khaali thi
Dekha wahan pe aaj tera chehra hai
Main bhatakta huaa sa ek baadal hoon
Jo tere aasmaan pe aake thehra hai..."
MaNan were a melody in their own unique sense. His heartbeats were the rhythm and her whispers were the lyrics...
