On HW movies making more money than BW movies

Should India limit the number of foreign movie release like China does? Sid Roy Kapur said in his interview to BH that in China, only a certain number of foreign movies can be released in a year. That's the reason any aira gaira's BW movie doesn't release in China. BM producers claimed before its premiere that they will release BM in China, but it didn't happen.
What I'm trying to say is don't you think India should follow China's policy to save their own movie industries? They can either limit the number of foreign movies or fix a certain number of screens for foreign movies... Like a foreign movie will get only 500-700 screens, not more than that.

I believe in free competition and I feel nothing should be restricted ie HW movies should get the release as per interest level of the film rather than restricted release. HW movies have started impacting BW movies...but maybe its a good thing as it will push film makers to try harder and improve the quality of their films. Even today despite everything we have local films making more money than HW films. Few films like TJB are exceptions rather than the rule. If India start restricting HW movies then other countries like Pakistan, Gulf, UK, USA etc will also start restricting Indian movies. Do we really want that to happen?

No, art should be allowed free movement. As an audience my most favourite movies this year have been Star Wars, Jungle Book and Cap Am...I'd be heartbroken if there were a scenario in which I was deprived of viewing such amazing movies on the big screen.
Also, considering the success of Bollywood movies this year and the future potential to further expand the size of audience which comes to the theater to watch movies, I don't see why our domestic industry should suffer??

P.S. I am being absolutely selfish here btw

I don't have much idea about how all this stuff works but the Hollywood movies that get a decent release in India are already limited. Except for franchises nothing really get gets a wide release. And I don't think there should be any restriction on them. These movies that work are working because there is hype around them amidst the Indian audience. People want to watch them. A lot of other movies don't even release here. Bollywood ain't a small industry that is struggling to reach people...it's huge enough to be able to face the competetion. At he end of the day, whichever movie provides the max entertainment would survive. I don't think we as an audience should be restricted to choose, in this case.

Moreover, Hollywood movies have always been releasing in India, since decades. In smallest of towns. In biggest of cities. Though a limited release, they have always had their audience. James Bond series, Alfred Hitchcock movies, even movies like Ten commandments and Cleopatra got a decent release in India. But of course not on their original release date but still. I have heard stories of people watching all these movies in theater and they didnt even live in a huge city. These movies haven't directly competed with Indian releases like they do now, but the point I'm trying to make is, there has always been demand for some Hollywood movies in our country and they always got a choice to watch them despite all the odds, ab toh it's only fair enough that we get to watch them with relatively easy efforts. 😆

A Marathi film Sairat is giving tough competition to civil war.
If content is good the desis will go to hw films. Like sharyn said art shud not have boundaries.

In Mumbai Tamil films release. If I understood it I'd go cos I hear they have great content.

There shd B no. Boundaries n Hindi filmmakers shud B inspired by other works instead of being threatened

Dumbest Idea ever. Should US, U.K., Pakistan, UAE stop releasing Bollywood movies?

India is a democracy and a free market. People are allowed to watch whatever they want. Secondly, Bollywood is being shit on by everyone not just Hollywood. Regional movies are out-grossing big budget Bollywood movies in their respective regions. Are we going to control those too, so Bollywood can thrive?
