Do you think Item Numbers are necessary?

IMO they are absolutely unnecessary.
If actress want to dance and show off thier bods(yes i am aware they don't decide on it, it is directors), they can release singles and albums. But what is thier a need to item song in movies? Unless it is a musical.
What are your thoughts?

Of course they are not "necessary" just like dancing and singing isn't necessary in movies. But Bollywood thrives off of colorful and extravagant dance numbers - us Indian audiences are attracted to this and if you look at it some movies are a success solely due to their music, and others are flops for there lack of.

Absolutely necessary. We are already becoming way too much politically conservative. If a man cant even enjoy some item numbers then dunia pe se bharosa hi uth jayega mera.

Sometimes they are! I mean if it is pivotal to the story why not? Like for eg- ek daaku ke adde ko police is trying to expose 😆 so while the daakus are enjoying the item numbers while drinking alcohol the police can do their job! 😆 Sometimes though even for the plot of the story it seems senseless- does anybody remember Dil aka Rishta? Ash was a teacher who had to garner money for the school and they do this charity function where she dances to 'Dayaah Dayaah re' with costume & stage changes! Now why would a teacher dance to some ashique type of song in a charity function! 😆



Disclaimer- I'm not trying to attack Ash here! You are free to bring in Pc's pinky or something! I would have gladly brought it myself but I don't know the context of the song since I have not seen the pathetic movie

Sometime of course if you just want item numbers for the heck of it, objectifying the woman could be lessened please - like Anushka's Jazba song or challa song!

Item songs like "Mein toh tandoori murgi hoon yaar,Ghatkale saiyan alcohol se" and "Aao raja" are absolutely disgusting and ridiculous.*Pukes*.🤢Unnecessary,of course.
