Raees sets up clash with Kaabil and Baadshaho

Shah Rukh Khan's Raees has moved from Eid this year to the Republic Day weekend next year, a date that is occupied by two other big films - Hrithik Roshan's Kaabil and Ajay Devgn's Baadshaho.

While pressure from fans (Raees on Eid' has been trending almost every other day) has prevented Ritesh Sidhwani and Shah Rukh Khan to officially announce or even talk about the postponement of Raees on social media, director Rahul Dholakia has had to mince words to confirm that the film is no longer releasing during Eid.

"Film ke liye jo sahi woh sahi. Thank you for your continued support for Raees. Love you all" Dholakia tweeted earlier today.

Official statement from Shah Rukh Khan, Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar "t was not an easy decision to move the film. We understand that this film is highly anticipated. However, a movie of such magnitude requires the appropriate showcasing and therefore, we have decided to shift our release date to 26th January 2017."

Now that the release date is confirmed, one of Shah Rukh Khan's most promising films will be too old' when it releases in theatres. The film will hit screens nearly 19-20 months after the teaser, which was unveiled back in July last year.

Moreover, while the clash with Sultan has been averted, it sets up yet another clash with two other films. Hrithik might move, but Ajay Devgn is known to be stubborn with his release dates.

If yet another clash is what you want, why move from Eid? If your film is not ready, it would probably be a better decision to occupy the Diwali or Christmas weekend. Those two dates can accommodate two big films, but that won't be the case with Republic Day weekend next year.

Why did they let go of the Bakrid' weekend, which falls in the second week of September? It was a 4-day weekend and a perfect time to release a film like Raees'. It was their own film Baar Baar Dekho' (Excel and Dharma) which is scheduled to release during that weekend and Raees' being the bigger film could have arrived on September 9.

i don't care whether Raees releases on eid or nxt yr, i will watch it for SRK

He has always been concerned about "I me myself". He is reaping what he sowed.


I don't want to start fan war, but Salman has earned tremendous goodwill in industry. He doesn't befriend only successful people. That's why his bad time didn't sink him !!
