Many have criticised Parineeti Chopra's drastic weight loss, saying she succumbed to Bollywood's preference for skinny girls, but the actress admits says she is only thankful for this "pressure" as it pushed her to attain a fitter body.

The actress has suddenly become a darling of luxury clothing brands and also earned numerous style awards courtesy her new toned figure.

Parineeti feels proud of her weight loss and says she is at peace now.

Sharing an old picture of her when she used to on the heavier side, the "Kill Dil" star wrote on Instagram, "All my life, I have struggled with how I look, how I feel, and how people looked at me. I was constantly made fun of, but the person I was, I generously laughed with them.

"Today, many people ask me what triggered the weight loss, did I give in to the "bollywood pressure"? To that I say - thank God I became an actor and had that pressure! I am able to achieve what I couldn't achieve otherwise. I feel more confident, I feel at peace, and I feel proud!" The 27-year-old said she is glad her journey to fitness has inspired girls and women across the world. "Girls and women meet me all around the world, at airports, events, on the street; they hold my hand, hug me, and tell me their struggles and how I changed their lives. They show me their wallpapers, their wallets, and it's all pictures of me! "They look at those pictures and want to make that change in their own lives. I have seen women tear up and tell me I changed their life. Post delivery weight, teenage obesity, they are fighting it, and I am their inspiration. As an actor, There is no bigger achievement for me.

I am glad to be a part of your life in this way. So thank you everyone. Thank You for making me feel loved. Like I always say - if I could do it. So can you. And I am always there for all of you ... Lots of love..." Parineeti wrote.

While I do feel one should be fit and healthy, being thin to fit into a certain mould is like giving wrong message to youngsters who look upto you.
But I do feel for her. Its not entirely her fault. The industry is very judgmental. Look what Anu did to herself. Or even PC for that matter. And she was Miss World.

This female needs to STFU. I would have been glad if she had asked people to lose weight to remain 'healthy'. Forget pressures and everything, it's just important to remain fit. BEING THIN IS NOT EVERYTHING! What does she expect people to do now. Lose weight to feel proud?! What a awful message. She needs to move beyond her weight issues. It ain't a crime to be thin or fat. To each his own. And why does she crib so much. As an actress, losing weight for her is no big deal. Alia, sonam are the biggest examples. They have a similar history but i have never seen them talk about it so much. Parineeti needs to move beyond her insecurities.Losing weight is not an achievement. For the love of god, grow up woman!

Fat' is usually the first insult a girl throws at another girl when she wants to hurt her.

I mean, is fat' really the worst thing a human being can be? Is fat' worse than vindictive', jealous', shallow', vain', boring' or cruel'? Not to me; but then, you might retort, what do I know about the pressure to be skinny? I'm not in the business of being judged on my looks, what with being a writer and earning my living by using my brain...

I went to the British Book Awards that evening. After the award ceremony I bumped into a woman I hadn't seen for nearly three years. The first thing she said to me? You've lost a lot of weight since the last time I saw you!'

Well,' I said, slightly nonplussed, the last time you saw me I'd just had a baby.'

What I felt like saying was, I've produced my third child and my sixth novel since I last saw you. Aren't either of those things more important, more interesting, than my size?' But no - my waist looked smaller! Forget the kid and the book: finally, something to celebrate!

I've got two daughters who will have to make their way in this skinny-obsessed world, and it worries me, because I don't want them to be empty-headed, self-obsessed, emaciated clones; I'd rather they were independent, interesting, idealistic, kind, opinionated, original, funny - a thousand things, before thin'. And frankly, I'd rather they didn't give a gust of stinking chihuahua flatulence whether the woman standing next to them has fleshier knees than they do. Let my girls be Hermiones, rather than Pansy Parkinsons."

Because Alia and Sonam lost weight before they came into movies. Pari lost weight AFTER she started doing movies. Sona too lost weight after she was criticised for being overweight. That is the kind of pressure she is talking about.

I do feel for her although that's not the right message to send across to so many young fans. 👎🏼

Pari looked fat as per Bolly standards but Anu and PC looked so pretty, no idea why did they even have to do something

But it is something that has been very prevalent in BW.. We, common people know that so as actresses i'm sure these people also know the kind of pressure they are put to. But talking about it over and over again is not gonna help her in any way.

@Bold

Agreed !

so people body shamed her. and instead learning that your body is not the domain of another. instead saying that whether she is thin, chubby or fat, no one has the right to insult you or make you feel worthless. instead she thanks them that bec of the pressure she lost weight.

wow. fantastic role model for young girls

pls STFU
