It was a masquerade party at the Grey Mansion. And an invite was not an issue. Certain masks are accessories, certain a necessity and she got both.
Dressed in a misty grey gown, wearing an intricate weaved mask of vines, Appy hid her death angel face. Someone whose camouflage even a mirror won't be able to spot was bound to stir humming in this crowd.
"There was a time they screamed my name, now they whisper it. Such is the strength of the all mighty humans?"
Appy mused silently.
She wasn't there to make small talk. She was there for a task. A task she didn't want to do since she met him but a task she had to for the same reason. There was Mrs. Robinson, hanging out of her clothes. The word hanging had a nice ring though.
But then, things took a deep plunge. He walked in. And she lost her heart. It was not easy. Like for her, who has stopped so many hearts by killing them, losing her own heart felt strangely appealing though.
She stared at him. She looked at him. Not the billionaire neither the sex symbol. But the man. The vulnerable one.
He seemed to have felt her stare for he stopped and looked directly at her.
Christian Grey seemed to have found his pull and he was walking towards her without a second wasted. But Mrs. Robinson was too quick to intervene his quest.
"Don't you look a darling!" She squeaked in her sleek tone.
"Seems like Mrs. R is in a hurry to be disciplined."
Appy took a dejected sigh. It was going to be nothing less than a headache hearing that woman's voice in close proximity.
Moving swiftly around, twirling her gown, Appy walked away into the shadows. Her intentional movement wasn't missed by Christian and he excused himself to make his way towards her and that was all she needed. Mrs. R was left alone and Christian was a t t r a c t i n g enough attention by his unusual behaviour.
Appy stepped out, unnoticed, smoothly covering Mrs. Robinson's mouth and escorted her out of the hall into the alley and up the building on the terrace.
"WHO ARE YOU!!? WHAT ARE YOU DOING BY DRAGGING ME HERE? WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME!?"
"I know you are panicking but please do it quietly. That voice can cause serious harm to you before you know it."
"What?"
"You want me to say a prayer for you, send a recommendation to your god?"
"Why?"
"Well I didn't wanted to break it to you but you're about to die."
"What!?"
"Is it a talent or dumbness becomes you? OK enough oogling me, shall we?"
And with that Appy turned around, found her case and took out her W a l t h e r.
"You could have run in this time but my magnetism, it takes a toll on people I see."
"It takes twisted and mad people to be like you!!!!"
"Thank you for the compliment, you are too kind. Say hello to the management party up there from me and guess they'll have to be waiting a long time for me."
For she knows now what there is to live for since she found him.
Before Mrs. R can say her next words, what would've been a loud bang was muffled in the night by a silencer as a shot went off.
And Appy jolted up awake.
