| Post Saawariya, Sony gives Bhansali another chance After Saawariya, Sony has entrusted Sanjay Leela Bhansali with yet another chance by offering him their next film. Vikramjit Roy, Publicity Head, Sony Pictures not entirely denying this possibility told us, "We will make an announcement at the relevant time." |
"Just like Saawariya, for this project as well, Bhansali shall be given full creative freedom to make his own kind of film as Sony has full faith in the acclaimed maker's capabilities," sources add.
"Bhansali had been toying with the idea of basing his film on Pakistan's famous Heera Mandi but now with him having dabbled into the same territory for some part of his Saawariya, it is very less likely that he would work on this project. The Black maker has been deeply hurt by the negativity his Ranbir - Sonam starrer generated from a large section of the media. With Sony's solid back up he is raring to comeback with his next sooner than he generally takes time in between his two projects," adds another industry source.
Bajirao Mastani had originally been conceptualized by Bhansali post Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam with Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai in the lead. But, he eventually decided to make Devdas. Later, following the Salman – Aish break up, the Devdas maker was thinking of Kareena for the courtesan's role. But, now the buzz is strong that Bhansali has approached the Bachchans to do the film, with Abhi-Aish playing the title roles in the historical and the senior Bachchan too playing a significant role in the film.
