CHAPTER 6:

The peaceful shower from the night-sky has pacified the inflammation of the burn. The royal persons had gathered inside the hall at night, important discussions regarding the sudden traumatic accident in the festival are going on. The seats behind where the women of the family sit are almost vacant, only Jodha, who is over-enthusiastic about all these matters, is present along with her mother. Mainabati was still trying to get her back to her room, her engagement is still to happen and her fianc is present in the court- God knows how he will take this- but little does Jodha care about this small matters of society!

One of the courtiers was reading out the reports. The accident has caused a horrible damage in the state. Apart from the losses for destruction of the main market place and a vast loss in economy, lots of common people have lost their lives- some due to burning, and mostly by getting stampeded. The list of injured people are even more long, and they mostly belongs from the slam area behind the market, who was homeless before, and now have lost their temporary shelters too.

The king listened to the whole list; his eyes were increasingly covering with the black shadow of tension. King Bharmal Singh is known for his kind nature and his love for the citizens, but in his mind he is too peace-loving person to be a king... he hates this type of unnecessary troubles. He took a sip of the energy-drink that they were having along with the discussion, and then looked at his son Bhagwant Das.

"Kuch kahena hay Bhagwant Das?"[Do you want to say something Bhagwant Das?] He asked, which actually means that he is handling his responsibilities on this matter to Bhagwant Das.

"Jo ho gaya uske upar humara baash nehi tha Maharaj..."[We have no hand over the act of nature your magjsty...] The experienced and elder prince of Amer stood up and started his speech. "Prakriti kab kaise manusya ke jivan ke sath khel khele o hum nehi jan pate! Parantu jo khsati hui hay uska bharafai karne liye Amer har sambhab prayas karega..."[We can never know how the nature plays with the lives of humen! But Amer will try all possible ways to compensate.] His voice was slowly becoming dramatic. "Jitne bhi nagriko ne aapna priyajano ko kho diye hay Amer ki Maharaj purn rupse unke sath hay... Rajkosh se unko paryapt sahara diya jayega. Jo jo nagrik ghayel hay unke chikitsha ke liye bhi paryapt dhan rajkosh se diya jayega. Amer ki rajkosh aaj se sadharan nagriko ke liye khol diya jayega... Mandi or rajpath ka nirman bhi kal se suru ho jayega... Rajsampatti ko jo hani paucha hay usse thik kiya jayega! Amer ki rajkunwari ki vivah-prastuti suru ho jane se pahele hi Amer nayi dulhaan ke tarha saj uthegi!"[The king of Amer is always with those who have lost their own in this accident... They will be given enough help from the treasury. Enough money will be given to the wounded people also. The treasury of Amer is open for all the citizens...The reconstruction of market place and road will be starting from tomorrow... The royal assets which have been damaged will be built up again. Amer will dress herself like a bride much before the wedding plans of the princess starts.]

Jodha was being quite shocked while hearing the list of charity announced by her brother. Most of the plans that he is talking about are fabrications of imaginary mind; Amer's treasury hardly has the capacity to bear too much expenses. The thing needed to fight with this circumstance is only a proper planning of disaster management. The speech of her brother was undoubtedly very good, but it lacked the practicality which the state demands the most in this hard time! But after he pronounced the last sentence, the whole meaning of the speech was clear to her. Let the common people to rot in hell, her brother's first preference is to gift an auspicious marriage celebration to her sister, so he will hurry to rebuild the central-market place, the royal assets over the skeletons of the common people... Jodha's eyes almost filled up in the tears of disgust and hatred for one of the dearest person of her life suddenly!

Still she did not tell anything, partially due to the nagging of her mother, and also as Sujamal, her another brother, who has a inborn rivalry with Bhagwant Das spoke out.

"Kunwar Bhagwant Das ne kaha hay ki prakriti ke iccha par kisike bhi baash nehi hay! Parantu itne sahajta se kaise sidhh kar diye unhone ki yeh ghatna srif prakriti ki ichha par hua hay? Kisi or ke iccha se nehi?" [Kunwar Bahgwant Das stated that none has hand over Nature's wish! But how can he say so easily that the accident has happened due to the wish of the nature and not for any other's wished? ] As usually, he started in his attacking style. Bhagwant Das frowned a little, the king fixed his idle eyes on him, the other princes geared up themselves with a new excitement and Jodha's fianc, who had to attend the meeting for maintaining protocol and was hiding his yawns continuously in the internal matters of another state, again gulped for hiding the next yawn. Jodha sighed from behind the curtain. Her Sujamal Bhaisa is an excellent man, but problem is he loves to think about war and enemies all the time...

However, after charming up the environment of the hall Sujamal started in his own distinguishable style. "Aaj se kuch mahine pahele durg ke bahar Kali-Mandir me bidharmi satruyon ke akraman ne yeh sidhh kiya tha ki Mughal Saltanant ki kali dristi dhire dhire humare Amer ke upar par raha hay. Kon bata sakta hay ki aajke durghatna satruyon ka chal nehi hay? Sayad..." [The attack of the imposters in the temple outside the fort is a proof that the black eyes of Mughal Saltanant is slowly falling on our Amer. Who can guarantee that today's accident is not a conspiracy of any enemy? ]

"Aise kaise ho sakta hay! Akhir kar surakhsha byabastha swayang aapke haat par tha!"[How can it be happen? The whole security system was on your hand!] Bhagwant Das taunted. "Or Mughal fauj ko or bhi kaam hay humare rajya me choro ki tarha ghuskar aag lagane ki sivay. O agar chahte hay to akraman karke hume samapt kar sakte hay! Aise bachpana kyu karenge?"[And Mughal force has plenty works to do other than lighting fire in our state like thief. They can easily attack and finish us if they want. Why will they be so childish?]

"Mughal Fauj ho yeah fir koi or satru... parantu yeh sambhabana ko uraya nehi jaa sakta. Surakhsha prabandh utsav ke dus din pahele se kiya gaya hay. Satrupaksh ki koi guptchar agar pahele se hi upastit ho to?"[Maybe Mughal force or any other enemy... but we cannot keep aside this possibility. The security system has been enforced before 10 days of the festival. What if any spy of the foes presented here before that?] Sujamal proposed his logic. "Mughalyon ko itna sidha samajhne ki zarurat nehi. O log guptchar bhejke hume durbal banana chahe, to bana sakte hay! Maharaj!"[No need to think Mughal Force so simple. If they want to make us weak by sending spies, they obviously can! My lord!] He addressed to the king. "Uddharkarya ke sath sath hume lagta hay ki suraksha byabastha par bhi bises dhyan dena chahiye. Rajkosh ke dwaar aise sabke liye khol dene se pahele yeh sochna bhi avasyak hay ki kon satru hay or kon mitr. Hume lagta hay ki jo jo uss samay upasthit tha sabki ekbar firse jaanch hona zaruri hay..."[With the rescue work we have to pay attention specially on security. We should judge once about friends and foes before opening the door of treasury. I think we should check those properly who were presented at the spot...]

Now mother's order even could not stop Jodha to intervene the conversation by coming out of the curtain. She pulled her veil downwards and appeared in front of all the males. In a dignified and measured voice she asked. "Bichme bol uthne ke liye khsama chahte hay Kunwarsa... Par kya hum yeh jaan sakte hay ki o jaanch kis hisab se hoga?"[Sorry for intervening. But may I know that how the judgement is going to be implemented? ]

Sujamal, who is very affectionate to this sister, smiled proudly after hearing the question. "Jaise naagrikatwa ka praman diya jata hay... Parichay-patra or sarkari naathiyon ko pesh karke..." [Just how people proves their citizenship... by presenting the official documents and identity cards...]

"Aap sayad bhul gaye hay ki aag jaha laga tha o ek basti hay, uaha ke nibasiyon ke paas Amer ki nagarikatwa ke adhikar nehi. Bhir me kaafi sare vikhshuk the jinka naam sarkaari naathiyon me antargaat nehi. Aapke anusaar kya Amer ki raja unke sahayata nehi karenge?" [You may have forgotten that the place which has been burnt is a slam and the people live there have no right on citizenship. There were a lot of beggars in the crowd whose names are not enlisted in the official documents. According to you the king of Amer will not help them?]

Sujamal's logic got a shock in the reverse logic. Meanwhile Jodha started stating her points looking at Bhagwant Das. "Aap agar sabke liye rajkosh ka dwar khol denge to aarth ke apachay ke atirikt or kuch nehi hoga. Jinhe iss durghatna se haani paucha hay unhe dhan ke nehi chikitsha or asray ki avasyakta hay. Hum prastav karte hay ki rajya ki aunr se ek tran-sibir ka nirman ho, uaha sabk liye khadya-samagri or chikitsha ka prabandh kiya jaye...Jabtak unke ghar ka punar-nirman na ho, tabtak ke liye unhe rajya se sahayata milega..."[If you open the door of the treasury for all then nothing will happen other that wasting of money. The people harmed from the accident need treatment and shelter, not money. I propose to open a rescue-camp from the state with enough foods and facilities of treatment. They will be getting all the helps from state before re-construction of their houses finished!] She stopped to take breath, and noticed that all are staring at her with strange look. Though she did not care and concentrated to complete her point. "Iss samay humare rajya ki jo arthnaitik avastha hay, hume har haal par khayal rakhna hoga ki aarth ki apachay na ho. Kisi abhigya byakti se hisab karwake pahele dhan ka saman bantan karna hoga. Or rajpath or raj-sampatti punarnirman ki karya baad me bi suru ki jaa sakta hay. Pahele grihaheeno ke liye sar rakhne ka byabastha jaldi se karna hoga..."[This time we have to keep in mind that what is the economical condition of our state. We cannot afford to waste money. First let us distribute the money in proper fields consulting with experts; The constructions of royal assets can be started afterwards; first we have to hurry to built the shelters for those homeless!]

"Aapke prastav acche hay Kunwari Sa."[Your proposal is good princess.] Sujamal spoke out first in the silent court. "Parantu surakhsha prabandh ke bare me kuch socha hay aapne? Agar tran-sibir ke byaktiyon ke bhitar hi humara satru rahe to?"[But have you thought something about security? What if our enemy stays in our rescue-camp?]

"Agar suraksha prabandh se nazar hatake kuch samay bipattiyo ke mokabila karne me lagate to sayad yeh din dekhna nehi parta!"[If you concentrated a bit on disaster management keeping the defense and security aside for a moment then we might not have to see this day!] Jodha smiled with hidden disgust. "Guptchar kahi bhi ho sakta hay, isska matlab yeh nehi ki hum aapne kartavya se piche hat kar kuch nirdosh manusya ke pran sankat me daal de. Rajdharm yeh nehi kaheta hay... Hay na Baapusa?"[Spies can be anywhere, but this does not mean we will stay aside of our duty and let the lives of the human beings in danger. The principle of a king does not say this... Isn't it father?] She looked at her father's face for support and got shocked to see the blooming anger of insult. The always-happy King was literally fuming in anger.

"Aapko kya lagta hay Kunwari Jodha Bai ki rajya ke sare purush nirnay lene me asamarth hay?"[Do you think Princess Jodha Bai that all the males of the kingdom is unable to take decision?] He lashed!

"Hum srif aapni soch byakt kar rahe the."[I was just giving mu opinion.] Jodha lowered her eyes and stated boldly. "Kya Rajkunwari ka yeh bhi adhikaar nehi ki o aapne praajayon ke bare me soch sake?"[Does not the princess have even right to think about her subjects?]

"Zarur hay. Parantu iska matlab yeh nehi ki aap lajjahina ki tarha aise..."[Yes you have, but that does not mean that you will like a shameless...] Bharmal refrained himself from completing the sentence and sighed. "Amer ke nagriko ke liye hum samasth prayas karenge... parantu jinke naam sarkari kagajo me nathivukt nehi hay hum kyu unke dayitwa le?" [I will do every possible trial for the citizens of Amer... but why I will take the responsibilities of those whose names are not in the official documents?]

"Amer ke simant me rahene wale grihaheen manusya, jinhe aap khud kille ke andar asray diye hay, kya o log aapke praja nehi hay maharaj?"[The homeless people of the border, whom you have given refuge inside the fort, is not they your subjects your majesty?] Jodha questioned him putting her eyes on him.

"Hum humare prajayon ke sath kabhi bhi aanay nehi ki, or aisi parithiti me kya karna hota hay o hum sabko pata hay."[I never have done any offence to my subjects, and I know how to deal with these situations.] The king announced. "Aapke upadesh nehi chahiye hume. Aap abhi aapne kaksh me jaiye or bisram lijie..."[We don't need your advice. You go and rest in own room...]

Jodha kept on staring at her father with shocked and dejected eyes. She has never been humiliated like this ever which her father just had done with her in front of the whole court. She knows the reason... if she would propose the same in his room privately he would have listened to it, appreciated it and forget it. But she has come outside of the curtain, directly raised questions in front of all courtiers- that to when the to-be son-in-law is present...it has degraded the respect of her father as well as the dignity of a princess! So she is bound to be insulted like this!

Jodha bid the king as per the protocol before going off. Suddenly her eyes were stuck to the young man who is new in the court. Her future husband is gazing at her without a blink. Jodha's head boiled up in rage seeing his eyes! They are seemed to be mesmerized by her, but only for her beauty...He is ogling her heavenly beauty with greedy eyes, but he has certain disgust for her desperate act of stating own opinion in front all! Perhaps he is thinking in his mind that O God who is coming in my house as my wife!

He was there at the spot of the accident, he could have taken any necessary step to rescue people but he didn't. He is here in the court- but he does not at all attentive to the discussions, does not even want to know about the consequence of the horrible incident. As if he has come as a guest, he is obliging Amer by marrying their princess and thus his duty is completed. Yes, it can be excused by saying that what else can a prince of other state do in the internal matter, though after the alliance the problem of Amer is the problem of Bhanghar too... Maybe Jodha is too fast to judge him, she has not known him yet, but still... his eyes cannot betray. Jodha has not seen a trace of sympathy for common men inside them, and neither has she seen any respect for her personality there just now...

And he is going to become Jodha's soul-mate- forever!

***

The sky was shining in the light of the thunderbolt in every moment... the black cloud has enveloped the whole night sky. If the rain showered just some hours back, many a life could have been saved!

Two human bodies were moving in the darkness outside the fort. A body was actually dependent on the other. They have successfully crossed the check-post of the fort in the chaos, but yet to reach their destination.

"Or kitne dur Abdul! Thori der ruko!"[How much far Abdul? Wait for a moment!] One of them whispered with gasp. Abdul, who was holding him tightly, carefully helped him to sit on a rock nearby. Jalal thanked him and wiped out the sweat of forehead before closing the eyes for rest!

"Aap kabhi nehi mante humare baat! Kya zarurat tha aag me koodne ka?" [You never listen to me. What was the need of jumping on fire?]In anger Abdul had forgotten that with whom he is talking with. "Aab bohot maza aa raha hay na humare kaandho par sawar hoke chalne me?"[You are enjoying very much to board on my shoulder?]

"Subha hi to bohot dukh ho raha tha tumhe hum aapne kandho me bhar le rahe the isliye."[You were too disheartened as I was bearing loads on my shoulders.] Jalal told in a playful tone. "Aab aapne shahenshah ko chalne ke liye madat karna par raha hay isliye itna gussa? Tumhare kandho me sawar kab hue hum? Agar hue to tum chal payoge?"[Now so much anger to help your emperor a bit? When I have boarded on your shoulder? If I, will you be able to move?] He giggled in his own joke.

"Aapko mazak suljh raha hay? Suniye, aagar baas chale to aapke liye hum aapne jaan tak kurbaan kar sakte hay. Aapke madat karne me hume gussa aa raha hay itna bara ilzaam humpe mat thopiye."[You are cutting jokes? Listen, I can give my life for you. So don't blame me by telling that I am angry for helping you!] Angrily he sat on the ground in front of his majesty and carefully took his right feet on lap to check the severe wound. "Par iska matlab yeh nehi ki aap jab jo man chahe kare or anjaam hume vugatna pare!"[But that does not means that you do anything you want and here I have to suffer!]

"Yeh lo, ghao hume laga, dard hume ho raha hay, or tum kahe rahe ho ki anjaam tum vugat rahe ho?"[What is it? I am injured, I am having pain, and you are saying that you are suffering?] Jalal said and suddenly whimpered a little as Abdul had pressed his injury mistakenly while binding that with cloth! "Kya hua? Maar daaloge kya?" [What happened? Will you kill me or what?]

"Koi agar khudkhusi karne ke liye aag me koode to usse khas kya marenge hum!"[If anyone jumps in fire to commit suicide how can I kill him?] Abdul said in fury!

"Aree tum gussa kyu ho rahe ho? Hume kuch hua hay kya? Or hota bhi kuch nehi... Hume aag se kaise bacha jata hay o tarika pata hay!"[Why are you getting angry? Has anything happened with me? And nothing would happen too... I know how to save myself from fire!] Jalal assured. "Hum bohot din jienge Abdul, chitna mat karo!"[I will live longer Abdul, don't be tensed!]

"Kuch hua nehi to yeh kya hay?"[If nothing has happened then what is this?] Abdul roared. "Haatyon ka chota chota ghao ko chor diya, magar iss pair ka kya kahenge? Kya halat hua hay..."[I am ignoring the wounds of hands, but what will you say about this injury of leg?]

"O bhi nehi hota..."[It too not had to happen...] Jalal stated sadly. "Baas nikalte waqt ek jalta hua kaath achanak se pair ke upar gir para... or bhari bhi tha...Thik ho jayega. Isse bhi bare bare ghao saha hay humne!" [Just before coming out a burning wooden beam fell on my feet and... that was heavy too... it will be alright soon. I am habituated with bigger injuries than this.]

"Kya uaha logo ki kaami thi?"[Were there lack of people?] Abdul started yelling. "Kon kaha tha aapko..."[Who told you too...]

"Kaha tha koi... Mere andar bhi ek shahenshah hay Abdul, hum unke hokum nazarandaz nehi kar sakte. Or..."[Somebody had told... there stays an emperor inside me Abdul, I cannot ignore his command. And...] He smiled. "5 bacche or ek budhi aurat ke jaan bachaya hay humne. Abdul, sangdil sipahi... srif jaan liye ho; jaan bachane ka kya khusi hay o tum kya jaano!" [I have saved 5 kids and one old woman. Abdul, o cruel soldier...you have taken lives only; how will you know the happiness of saving a life?] He lost in the terrified moment he had gone through just some minutes back. The poisonous smoke was chocking the breath, some portions of hand and body is inflaming in the heat of fire. Still he did not stop before rescuing the full hut. The tearful happy eye of the old women whom he carried at the time of getting injury is the greatest achievement of his life... "Kon ho tum beta? Koi devta ho? Yeah fir sawang Shree Ram aaye haay hume udhar karne!" [Who are you my son? Are you any God? Or God Shree Ram himself has come to rescue us?]

Abdul stared at his face for sometimes with helpless glimpse. His foot is been horrifyingly wounded- he is unable to walk on his own! Due to his stay in the fire for long time he has not got back the normal eyesight, he is even having troubles in respirations as he has inhaled a lot of contaminated particles of air; he is now gasping in tire after this short conversation... still he is smiling such a content smile, cutting joke with his subordinate- really he can never understand this man!

Jalal had taken a lot of rest by then. They have no more time, he has to ride on his horse once- his Tufaan will take him in his royal tent like a storm and he will be secured after that. He took the support of Abdul's shoulder to get up. "Chalo Abdul! Zyada waqt nehi hay humare paas!"[ Let us go Abdul! We have no more time!]

They reached to the temple in the dark. The horses were bound just beside the temple... but where are they? Both of their heart started quivering in an unknown fear.

"Tufaaannn!!!" Jalal shouted for once. Normally Tufan takes no time to reciprocate with a hearty neigh and rushed to him, but this time no response! Abdul roamed around the place in search of the horses but there were no trace of them!

"Bhaag gaya kya?"[Have they fled?] Abdul guessed. Jalal moved his head to and fro with a tensed look. His Tufaan will not flee... he is too well trained and tamed.

"Rassi bhi nehi hay!"[The rope is also not here!] Abdul informed with surprise!

"Chori ho gaya hay!"[They have been stolen!] Jalal uttered in a dejected, angry, tensed and helpless voice! "Humne soche bhi nehi the ki koi ghora chori kar sakta hay! Sochna chahiye tha!"[I had not thought that the horses can be stolen also! I should have thought!] He covered his eyes with palm... "Tufaan!"

"Aab kya hoga Shahenshah!"[Now what will happen your majesty?] The panicked voice of Abdul hurt the heart of Jalal with double jostles. Really, what will he do now? How will he reach to his destination without horse and with a severely wounded foot? This thought suddenly increased the pain which he had suppressed inside him; he sat down on the nearby rock like helpless and started gasping!

"Hum yehi par intezaar karte hay."[Let us wait here.] Abdul suggested with a vacant mind. "Sayad hume dhundte hue Mughal Fauj yeaha tak aa jaye... Khan-E-Khana kuch to karenge..."[Mughal force might come here while searching us... Khan-E-Khana will do something for sure...]

"Unhe kaise pata hoga ki hum..."[How will he know that I...] Jalal exhaled a deep breath! "Ki hum Amer aye hay! Humne to yeh kaheke gaye the ki hum Shikar karne Jaunpur ke taraf jaa rahe hay! O to ulte disha me fauj bhejenge!!" [That we have come Amer! I had told that I am going for hunting towards Jaunpur! He will send force at opposite side!!]

"Aab?"[Now?] Abdul suddenly sat down on the ground! "Fir se Kille tak chale jaye? Par firse ghusenge kaise!"[Should we return back to the fort again? But how will we enter?] he himself cancelled the childish plan. "Kya karenge Shahenshah?"[What should we do your majesty?]

"Pata nehi!"[I don't know!] Jalal said and poured his head inside his knees! All the normal enthusiasm he does have all the time had been vanished in a moment. He was feeling too tired and ailing suddenly to think anything!

"Shahenshah!" Abdul put his hand on his hand to give him support, but could not say anything more!

"Abdul!" His majesty spoke out after sometime, and his voice was utterly filled with gloom and uncertainty... His voice had lost its usual charm in the unexpected turn of events!

"Hukum kijie Jahanpanha"[Order me, my lord!] Abdul had gained courage with the voice of his majesty.

"Tumne abhi kaha na tum mere liye jaan de sakte ho..."[You told me that you can give life for me...] Jalal told with hesitation. "To ek kaam karoge? Sayad bohot taklif hoga par... or koi chara bhi to nehi!"[Can you do one thing? I know it will very hard, but we have no options!]

"Kuch bhi karenge Shahenshah! Aap hokum kijie!"[I will do anything! You order me!] Abdul told desperately.

"Paydal Mughal chhauni tak pauchne ki kosish karo! Uaha se madat leke aao... Hum yehi rukke intezar karenge!"[Start walk on foot towards Mughal tent! Get help from there... I will wait for you!] He told, and simultaneously picked up his head. There was a sheer pain of hesitation, helplessness and request in his face which moved Abdul's core. Instantly he took Abdul's hands in his hand. "Hum jante hay Abdul yeh hukum bohot be-rehem hay! Bina kuch taiyaari ke, bina ek boond pani ke registhan me itne dur paidal chalna... hum!"[I know Abdul that this order is cruel! Without any preparation, without a drop of water it is impossible to walk in a desert but I!] He thrashed his palm on forehead. "Nehi karna chahiye tha hume aisa bachpana... Srif aapne pagalpan ke bajay se bina kuch taiyaari ke dusmaano ke elake me aa gaye hum! Bina bajay se khud ko ghayal kar liye or aab tumhe..."[I shouldn't have done this childish act... Only due to my craziness we came inside the enemy's place! Without any reason made myself injured and now you...]

"Hum jayenge Shahenshah! Or koi chara bhi to nehi hay! Or humara adat hay dhup me registhan me bhagne ka." [I will go my lord! We have no options left. And I am practiced in running in the middle of desert.]Abdul tried to gear him up. He has never seen his majesty to break down like this... he is the only one who could give him confidence. "Or yeh registhan me jaga jaga par banjare rahete hay... Unke paas uut bhi hoga. Hum bohot jald khema tak pauch jayenge or lautke bhi ayenge... Par Shahenshah!"[The nomadic live in the middle of the desert... they have their camels. I will reach to the tent very fast and will come back too. But your majesty!] He touched his shoulder. "Aap ekele yeaha itne din... kaise!" [But how will you manage on your own!]

"Hum rahe lenge... Humare chinta mat karo."[I will be okay. Don't think about me.] Jalal smiled palely. "Abhi ke abhi nikal jao. Or sabdhani se jana! Koi uut ke sawari yeah banjaro ka khema mile to madat mang lena... Aapne aap par zyada julm mat karna..."[You leave As soon as possible. Be careful! If you find any nomadic or camel seek help... don't stress yourself much...] He gasped while telling all these.

"Aap chinta mat kijie Shahenshah!"[Don't worry your majesty!] Abdul assured him. "Hum bohot bohot jald aa jayenge! Aapko zyada taklif nehi sahena hoga..."[I will come back very fast! You will not have to bear much stress...]

After Abdul got out of his sight Jalal shrank his face in the unbearable pain that he had been suppressing for a long time. He slipped down on the ground and leaned back on the rock, groaning his heart out. He felt to writhe on the ground for sometimes, so that it reduces some of the pain... Just some moments back he was calm and cool and did not even think about his own condition, but just from the moment he understood that he is too far from his secured shelter, here he has to spend his day alone without food and drink, a soft bed and none is here even to dress his wound, his affliction increased a hundred times!

Biting own lips with teeth, he carefully removed the bandage that Abdul had made on his foot with his novice hands. He himself shivered in a pure fear by witnessing the wound in own eyes! No matter how many trials Abdul does, he can never reach here again before 8-9 days minimum... and without any medicine and proper dressing obviously his feet will have gone septic- then he will have to lose his leg forever! How can he even imagine himself like that?

The horrible imagination caused a severe restlessness inside him. He had never felt do much helpless in his life! Feebly he placed his head on the ground and put his palm on the eyes, covering them. It took no time to lose his senses and to go in deep sleep...

The black cloud of the sky roared and a razor of light sliced the chest of the darkness suddenly. Jalal had to get back o his senses as two-four big drops of rain had showered on his forehead. He pressed his head which was paining and sat up. It was looking like the wound has started to weaken him from inside- he is feeling vulnerable! Maybe a little fever due to the exhaustion of the injury... Had he got slept or became fainted?

The intensity of rain is increasing with time. How much distance has Abdul covered in this little time? If he gets stuck in the sudden disaster then...

Supporting on his arms and another leg Jalal stood up and covered his head with hand. The rains of deserts are too much bold than normal plains... when comes tries to wipe out everything. It is not a healthy habit to get wet in rain this time. He started searching shelter in the darkness. Only shelter is the broken-temple... he lamed towards the stairs. He almost had to crawl on the stairs. After crossing the last step he thrashed himself on the ground and banged his palm on forehead... head is tearing up in pain, eyelids are becoming heavier in every second. In the very moment he started to miss the touch of his loving ones... God knows what his mother is doing... maybe sleeping peacefully in her royal bed without knowing the condition of her son... Badi Ammi, i.e. his foster mother never thinks to rest for a moment leaving him alone when he gets injury of any type and needs rest... she even does not know about him now! Ruqaiya is enjoying her royal leisure like always, not even thinking about his whereabouts. He had lied to his Khan-Baba before coming here- if he would not, he would not have faced such a trouble... how he will stand in front of him! And Tufaan? Where is his dear horse? Who dared to steal him!

A bolt of light enlightened the darkness inside the temple. Jalal looked back... the horrendous idol of the Goddess was smiling destructively! Her eyes were red, she was drenched in blood, she had clad on the garland of slain heads... the Goddess of destruction is to destroy all the sins of her creations. But in Jalal's fainting eyes the fear of destruction could not figure out... Strangely the face of his mother, Badi-Ammi and the woman whom he had rescued mingled with the idol's face... he kept on staring at that even in dark- till his eye-lids got closed again automatically!
