Chapter 26

Nisha and Avanti came down to find payal and servant rushing towards rahul-maanvi's room.

Avanti~ "Ab kaunsa naya drama kar rahi hai ye maanvi?" she said making faces.

Nisha~ "Let's go and find out. Wouldn't want to miss on something interesting."

They both followed and reached to rahul-maanvi's room.

Payal~ "Congratulations maanvi bhabhi! This is such a happy news." she hugged maanvi and was really excited.

Nisha and Avanti had no idea. Nisha asked Sonali "Mom, maanvi ko kya hua?"

Sonali~ "Nisha, in few months, I will be a grandmother!" she replied.

Nisha and Avanti felt like someone dropped them from the sky. The reality hit them hard, harder for Avanti as she realized that maanvi and rahul have been closer than she had thought. "Maanvi... pregnant." Both of them thought. Certainly this meant that rahul and maanvi will get more attention than ever.

Rahul took the tray of food and put it in front of maanvi. "Maanvi, pehle kuch kha lo. Doctor ne kaha hai ki tumhe ab apna aur bhi khass khayal rakhna hai." They shared a brief eye lock interrupted by payal.

Payal~ "Ahem... phir se shuru ho gaye na aap dono! Ab bhala majaal hai kisi ki, ki aap dono ko rok sake." She teased in cutest way possible.

Sonali~ "Chal, tang mat kar dono ko." She indicated payal to leave them alone.

Rahul maanvi romancing right in front of her was last straw for Avanti. She couldn't take it any more and left in a hurry without a word to anyone, not even Nisha. Nisha understood but she remained quite. She knew that Avanti is completely out of her mind and soon she will do something that might not bode well for her or Shaleen. Nisha decides to carefully guard maanvi especially tomorrow during concert or else what rahul will do to them if something happens to maanvi is something no one will be able to stop him from doing.

Chotu informed that its dinner time and everyone should reach the dining hall. Sonali, Dadi ji, payal and Nisha left, while rahul asked Chotu to bring his dinner in the room itself.

Again rahul and maanvi were alone together. Rahul took her hand in his hand and caressed her. Maanvi blushed at his touch. The thought was warming and the silence spoke tons. Maanvi dared not to look him in the eyes as he kept staring at her.

The silence only broken by the occational flapping of the curtains that moved by the winds blowing through the window. Few minutes later, Chotu knocked the door that rahul answered, he brought the tray of food for both of them. He set the tray on the side table and left. Once rahul made sure on one else would come to disturb them, he locked the door and resumed his place next to maanvi.

Rahul~ "Maanvi... wo... main... tum..." he stuttered at the loss of words. He had no clue how to put his feelings in words.

Maanvi~ "Kya hua rahul?"

Rahul~ "Maanvi... wo main keh raha tha ki..."

Maanvi~ "Khana kha lo? Ab tak bas yahi kaha tumne, uss ke aage tumne abhi kuch kaha hi kahan hain."

Rahul~ "Main kuch serious baat karne ki koshish kar raha hoon aur tumko mazaak soojh raha hain!?"

Maanvi~ "Ab tum main... tum...' se aage badoge nahi to uss mein meri kya galti hain?"

Rahul smiled at the innocent act played by maanvi. Sure she had clue about what he was trying to say but since he was unable to find words, she was trying to help him relax. Rahul moved a little closer, took her hand in his hand and said.

"Maanvi, tumhe nahi pata ki aaj tumne mujhe kitna khush-kismat mehsoos karaya hai. Aaj humari zindagi mein ek nayi khushi ki aahat hui hai. Humare pyaar ki nishani hai ye. Jab iss se humare jiwan mein khushi goonjengi..."

Maanvi~ "...abhi tak hum sangeet se the, aur tab sangeet humse hoga."she finished his sentence.

Rahul~ "Par ab darr lagta hai..." his expressions suddenly turned worried.

Maanvi put her hand on his cheeks, as their eyes met again.

Rahul~ "Darr lagta hai ki humari inn khushiyoon ko kisi ki nazar na lage. Kahin inn khushiyoon ko main kho na doon."

Maanvi abruptly placed her hand on his lips "Shhh... aise nahi kehte. Humari inn khushiyoon ko apne inn haantho mein band karke rakh lo. Yeh sab khushiyaan tumhe chod kar kahin nahi jayeingi." She closed his palm and kissed it. "Hum humesha... har janam mein ek saath honge. Yeh mera wada hai."

Rahul caressed her lock of hairs; she gave into his touch, their foreheads met. They must have stayed that way for couple of minutes before rahul and maanvi broke apart to have their dinner. Sonali had sent some pickles with the food, just for maanvi in case she has a craving for something spicy.

Maanvi indeed felt the urge to eat something spicy. As she licked the mango pickle, rahul smiled at the faces she made. The mood around them used to shift a lot from serious to lightheartened as they teased, shared moments, romanced and played around each other; and hopes that they will stay that way.

Avanti as in her room, trashing the whole place. She must have broken a dozen of different things by now. Her mother was knocking on her door, begging to just let her in and talk to her. But all that Avanti could hear or think right now were the words that were spoken and un-spoken between rahul and maanvi.

Avanti screamed and yelled as these words and images kept reapeating in her head

"...Maanvi, tumse hi meri zindagi hain... Rahul, tum sirf mere ho... Rahul-Maanvi ki zindagi mein kuch hi mahino mein ek naya mehmaan aayega... " along with images of rahul maanvi romancing and making love... sonali and dadi ji admiring a baby in their hands as rahul maanvi stands next to them, arms around each other... even raj, Nisha and Shaleen were part of that happy family. Then the words of payal echoed "Rahul tum jaisi ladki se kabhi pyaar nahi karega, wo sirf maanvi se pyaar karta hai..."

Avanti picked another vase from the showcase and threw it on the wall.

"Maanvi, tumne yeh acha nahi kiya. Tumne mujhse meri khushi cheeni hai, badle mein main tumhari duniya barbaad kar doongi. Tumhare bache ko marna hoga! Main tumhe mera rahul cheen kar kabhi khushi se nahi rehne doongi!"

Avanti was full with rage and distructive thoughts. Tomorrow will be a very long day awaiting everyone.

Rahul woke up early, went for a quick jog around the house. Came back, found room empty. Instead there was a gift on the bed with a note.

"This is a gift for the person that means world to me. Hope he likes it and the world sees him as the brightest star in the sky, which brings light in my days and nights.

Rahul opened the gift-wraps to reveal a dual-sided jacket that can be worn either side. One side look was a deep brown jacket with silver colored crest and linings. Other side was a cream colored jacket with deep brown colored ends of sleeves, lower part of jacket, collar and linings, also with a small similar crest as the other side.

"Perfectly suited for today's concert" thought rahul. He quickly took a shower and got ready to head to studio for final rehearsals. He will also need to meet the other team that will be performing with him on the stage.

He called on twinkle's phone but there was no response. He came down to find Sonali and maanvi in the dining hall. Sonali and maanvi were first glimpse of pre-concert jitters around sabarwal mansion.

Rahul~ "Good morning mom. Good morning maanvi. Payal dikhayi nahi de rahi?" he inquired.

Sonali~ "Payal to adha ghante pehle hi twinkle ke saath gayi hai concert ki final preparations dekhne. Keh kar gayi hai ki wo tumhe studio par hi milenge."

Rahul~ "Ok thanks mom." As he sat down to have breakfast. Maanvi had prepared his favourite breakfast. He and maanvi shared an eye lock before he inquired "Maanvi... tumne breakfast kar liya? Phir tumhe apni medicines bhi leni hai."

Maanvi smiled "Haan rahul, maine fresh fruits, juice aur light breakfast liya hai." She saw rahul was not wearing the jacket she has gifted him and she also knew that he has asked Chotu to send it to the concert venue.

Sonali~ "Concert ki rehearsals kaisi rahi kal? Twinkle se pata chala ki tumne kuch special performance plan kiya hai."

Rahul~ "Ab abhi se bata doonga to special nahi reh jayega mom. Concert par hi dekh lena." He smiled.

Dadi ji and Dada ji also joined them by that point. Rahul finished his breakfast and left for studio. After rahul left, Raj, Nisha and Shaleen joined the dining hall. Raj was the only one in the house who was still unaware about maanvi's pregnancy.

Dadi ji~ "Sonali, maine aur dada ji ne socha hai ki concert ke baad, do-char din mein maanvi ki gode-bharayi' karwa dein. Iss hi bahane se sab rishtedaroon se bhi maanvi ko milwa denge."
(gode-bharayi': it's a celebration done when a lady gets pregnant)

Sonali~ "Acha idea hai. Main kal hi pandit ji ko bulwa kar uski preparations karwa deti hoon."

Raj was confused "Gode-bharayi? Kyun?"

Dadi ji~ "Raj, tum to ullu ke ullu hi rahoge. Tumhe kuch pata bhi hai? Rahul aur maanvi ki zindagi mein nayi khushiyaan aayengi iske liye gode-bharayi karenge. Tum kuch hi mahino mein dada ban jaoge."

Raj must have choked on his sandwitch. Had it been someone else as rahul's wife, of equal status as himself, raj might have been quite happy with this news. But this was his enemy's daughter who now carried the heir of this family's name. He drank some juice to help clear his throat, and congratulated maanvi with half heart as everyone's eyes were on him to say something to maanvi after that news.

Raj~ "...Where is rahul? I haven't seen him."

Sonali~ "Rahul concert ki final rehearsals ke liye studio gaya hai. Payal aur rahul directly hume venue par hi milenge." She informed.

Everyone then resumed with the pre-concert jitters again. Maanvi went back to her room, this time there was a packet waiting for her with a note attached to it. Maanvi knew instantly that rahul must have brought this when he went missing for few minutes the day they were out shopping for holi party and concert. Without wasting any time, she read the note.

"Maanvi,
Mujhe tumhara gift acha laga. Thank You.
Main bhi apni pyari si biwi ke liye kuch khass laya tha ye soch kar ki aaj wo mere liye isko pehen kar, mere concert mein aayegi. Aaogi na? Meri nazrein sirf tumhara intezaar karengi.
Kyunki tumhare bina, meri shaam adhuri hai,
Mere din adhure, meri raat adhuri hai,
Har baat adhuri, mulakaat adhuri hai.
Par jab tum saath ho, har lamha kastoori hai.

Maanvi smiled reading that note. She carefully opened up the packet to find a beautiful evening gown in red color silk and net, pretty embroidery in white and pink, decorated with glitter work.

Maanvi~ "Tum bhi na rahul..." she couldn't stop herself from blushing when she read that note again. Who could ever say no to such a romantic request by such a loving husband? There was still time to the concert so maanvi carefully put the dress in wardrobe to wear in the evening.
