Fan's costume designer Niharika Bhasin, who's bowled over by Shah Rukh Khan's energy and passion, takes t2 through Aryan and Gaurav's look...

Fan is looking super fun!
Yay! I had my Gaurav and I had my Aryan. Gaurav is my middle-class Delhi boy and he is a fan of Aryan. Aryan Khanna is a superstar... Bombay-based, upper class with a sophisticated taste in clothing. He knows fashion and knows how to portray himself. Gaurav is loud... doesn't know how to put things together. He follows Bollywood and old Aryan films. He wants to dress like him and act like him.

This is your first film with Shah Rukh Khan...
It was amazing to work with Shah Rukh. He is a thorough professional, highly energetic, which I am too. That works really well because sometimes people look at me and are like: She is a psycho person!' I didn't have that with him. He is just involved. It is so lovely to have someone involved and also not so lovely. You have created something in your head and my job is to put them into the skin and ensure that the skin is believable, not just for the audience but also for the actor, so that he can then do whatever he wants without thinking.

With Gaurav, Shah Rukh looked completely flabbergasted at what I was doing, but he was like: I will go with this if you also listen to what I have to say about Aryan'. Fair enough! He knows what a superstar he is... You are overwhelmed. You are scared that you are working with Shah Rukh Khan.

Is working with Shah Rukh Khan different from working with the others?
It's intimidating because everyone wants to be around him and everyone wants to talk to him at all times and we don't know when to push in and say: Okay! I need do say this', because he is Shah Rukh Khan. But he seems to have time for everyone. Of course like every actor, he doesn't want to do trials! But he gives you time. It's different. People want to do their work and leave, but he is passionate about his work.

He had an action scene in Croatia and his knees were already in trouble. And he runs and he hurts himself, but he will run and he will do it again and again. You want to be in that space... and that is what is exciting about working with him. I have a great thing about energy.

We had a lot of fun. In London, we went shopping together. He was like: You help me out'. I was like: I will help you if you help me' because I had to buy a few things for the film.

Is he a superstar on the sets?
If you are asking me whether he throws tantrums, oh my god, he is more than a thorough professional. I am learning from him.

Gaurav will be seen in...
He is a middle-class Delhi boy trying to emulate a superstar. There are a lot of colours. You don't have a fit that is absolutely right and it is not well put-together. There is a lot of confusion when you look at the clothing, whereas with a sophisticated palette and a superstar, you know that the colours are subdued. His personality then takes over the room. That's what we had for Aryan. So, there were a lot of subdued, beautiful fits. Aryan knows what he is wearing for what occasion, as opposed to Gaurav. He only wants to emulate Aryan through films. Even if someone is emulating a superstar, if you don't have a discerning palate, you are not going to understand it. That's what Gaurav is. There's colour, print, craziness and things that I can do with Gaurav.

Are there any references to Shah Rukh Khan's costumes from his filmography?
People who are fans of Shah Rukh will be able to notice that. It's not going to hit you in the face. Those who are not Shah Rukh Khan fans, it's going to be a flow through the film. We have not done stuff that is overtly Shah Rukh Khan. There were times when he was like: I would never wear this! This is so ugly!' We would be like: But you have worn it in this film.' He would be like: Oh shit! You caught me out!'

We know Shah Rukh Khan loves black. Will Aryan Khanna also be seen in black?
I want to say yes and I want to say no. I think we have come to a good understanding. We have a lot of grey!

So, he did want a lot of black?
Yeah and we have a lot of blacks. We tried to tone it down... navy blues and greys.

And you are a fan of...
In college, it was Nelson Mandela. I am a superhero fan... Hugh Jackman is hot. Wonder Woman is big for me, but the old Wonder Woman, Linda Hamilton. I haven't seen the new one. I am a big fan of my children (Tahura, 15, and Zohra, 12) because I think they are amazing! Every day they come up with something new and exciting and I am like: Dude! Are they mine?!'
