Mother Theresa move more…we have a new candidate to beat you in the race to being beatified, a new promising hopeful who will be forever etched in our memories for her saintly conduct.

Dr. Ridhima Gupta, are you for real? You surprise all of us in the real world with your goodness. You are, if possible, even more implausible than those designer sari clad, stylish bindi toting vamps that predominate the tube these days. You know the ones who constantly carry 'property ke kaagazaat' on their person, who only deal in a few hundred crores of rupees, who meticulously plot the downfall of their adversaries…

What a brilliantly innovative idea!! Tired of villains and vamps? We'll give you something new, but something just as incredible. You cannot digest a completely evil person? Then take this…a person so good and so pure that you will wonder if she even belonged to this world or was magically planted here by well-wishing aliens who felt sorry for us Earthlings!!

You did not administer the said drug (surprise!!! We know your dirty little secret!!!), your sister did (yup!! We know that too). And we all agree that you are indebted to the Guptas for taking you in, but you weren't exactly an orphan you know. And your foster Dad was just covering his tracks…not doing you a favour!!! Oh!! Don't get us wrong…we do not expect you to tell all the sordid tale of your sister's misdeed. Though we all believe that she is, after all, only human and acted in the patient's best interest, not fully aware of his medical history. But honestly did you have to stand there with that melancholic, yet saintly expression on your face when you were being falsely accused of something you had not done??

So the love of your life turns you in, potentially ruining your career and your dreams. It is genuinely commendable that you comprehend his compulsions (pardon my alliteration). But are you not the least bit distraught over your pitiable state? Even while awarding him with your blessed forgiveness, your patronizing tone cannot be missed!! You are truly extraordinary... you are not preoccupied with your suspension or your impending viva; you seem so amiable when you accept, no, sorry, when you dismiss the apology as being unnecessary.

Which is why it is only befitting that all other great people, waiting for sainthood to be conferred upon them, move aside and let you get priority. We assure you that we will take up your beatification with the concerned authorities and make sure that the process is expedited. This is our solemn oath for we believe that none other is more deserving of the honour!

I knew this was coming... you online at this hour, and the green light glowing next to your name didnt miss my drowsy eye... and much as I was dozing off... I stayed up.... actually holding my eyes wide... waiting for the post to jus show up and voila it did!!!

Now for the post, I truly agree and that tone of hers, when she asked abt the sorry was so not right... I mean she wasnt talking to a 5 yr old kid and oh well .... the less said the bette.r.. you've said it all....I am only gonna tire myself and rant on ...
But the bottom line is , the actress may be the same in real life too, the voice and the way she speaks , but for the character Ridhima, it truly does not fit and sadly... I jus cannot relate to her anymore as Ridhima... blame it on the creatives for the dodgy etching of her character and the actress herself, who possibly ignores the nuances of the character , especially with the voice and the expressions....(i may be wrong in commenting on her acting skills.... but to me she certainly seems uncomfortable with a few expressions)...
And yeah its time to make way for the Holier than thou personified... Dr Ridhima Gupta!!!

^^^he he!!!! just couldn't resist!!! i've already commented on shilpa's histrionic skills in the tables turned post, but who says we don't have the right to comment on her performance!! hell! we endure her, don't we???? and who knows what the creatives think when they write a scene for her? methinks its all about the acting...its no longer ridhima. i am dismissing my diatribe on the poor character partially!! some of the bigger grouses stay put, but i think the biggest problem is shilpa and her performance!!

^^ I have to agree with ya Aarti.... barring the fight scenes and the few of the sharamana ones, her expressions really fall flat ... especially when she has someone like Karan opposite who is so effortlessly brilliant with his expressions...!!!
Sigh.. I wish she'd match up...

But I still feel... she is very uncomfortable playing the bimbette role.. coz I guess she aint anything close in real life... and well if that should be dismissed or not when it comes to her acting, I wouldnt know... but it sure is causing us viewers a lot of effort to bear those frozen expressions!!!

Haha!! I like the comic tone Aarti di. And yes, I agree, Ridz does seem to go towards sainthood.
And that is not innovative. Even Jassi tried to be a saint. And not to forget all the recent "non-saas-bahu" shows also try to bring in a heroine in the form of a saint which turns to become "Durga" mata when the vamp's torture goes offhand.

Ahaa! A post about Ridz's totally unrealistic behavior from Aarti!!

*rubs hands in glee* 😆 😆 😆

Aarti, Thank you very much for this post!! Finally saw Thursday's epi...and frankly, I didn't really like the Ridz in the pre-cap that much...I know everyone's hailing it as the return of the 'old' Ridz...but frankly, I felt something was missing.

Either the characterization of Ridz has totally gone down the drain...OR as both you and Sareeta rightly put...Shilpa's acting is just not up to par...and that is something that i've felt for a while now....

I'm kinda laughing at myself right now...When Ridz was acting like an immature brat, I had a problem...and now when they're showing in the pre-cap that she's acting all 'mature'...it doesn't seem to sit right with me either 😕 😆 😆 Thing is...I don't see any justification for the totally (in my opinion) sudden turn around on her part 😕 SUDDENLY she's behaving with Armaan as if her big "don't talk to me" ultimatum had never happened?!! If they'd shown a smoother and realistic transition on her part....I'd have been happier.

Oh well....on a positive note...really liked the new promo!! AR on the basketball court always results in great scenes 😉 So, here's hoping for a some great DMG epis next week! 😉

@ anu...thats exactly the trouble...no idea if this what they intend or if it is shilpa's mess, but god...so incongruous!!!

absolutely no concordance and behavior is not displayed in spurts!! its a continuous graph and that is just not coming across. we've seen enough see-saw as far as being in love and out of it from ridhima. now we are seeing some more.

not just your opinion honey...all of us are scratching our heads right now...a typical...'uh, what just happened there' reaction!!! it is a total and a sudden reversal and it is quite puzzling!!!

@Aarti...I've felt for a while now that they've been not doing that good a job with the transitions of all the storylines in general.

Like in Sapna-Shubs storyline...they showed that one scene of her watching Shubs-Keerti, and then...nothing, no follow up.

A lot of the Atul-Lovely scenes looked really randomly thrown into the epis for me...like they were just filler scenes...and even if that was the intention, I feel it could still have been done better.

Of course, the Ridz reaction tops all of these...either they shot a bunch of scenes and forgot to add them to the epis 😕...or they're just not doing a good job of keeping the flow of the storyline smooth...I really think they need to think about that. I never once got this feeling during the first two months...but now, for some reason...I feel they do a somewhat patchier of jobs of putting together the epis...dunno if it's just me

😆😆just imagined Ridz in the Missionaries of charity gown 😆

The reason lot flak is being directed towards Shilpa/Ridz is for two reasons :

a) majorly her charac has been poorly presented. In the typical soaps the balidaan devis do the tyaag for family but here there is no apparent reason. So in response to the love and affection of Armaan her coldness is vexing.

b) Her reactions lack the spunk required in the light tease scene. This can be either due to the script fault or own personality which doesnt suit this. Whereas Armaan/Karan shines brilliantly in such scenes. His personality has the oomph and spunk to carry off plus he has script support too.

I think if the writers give some script support to Ridz charac and she too tries to modulate her voice it can help.

She does carry off the basket ball scenes well. so Ridz pl tie your hair when u play, no one plays with flowing hair😆 whatever be ur hidden reasons😉 ( they allow her to win😆)

^^^a pretty picture she doth make...

you've hit the nail on the head. i think all of ridhima's reaction either have no or insufficinet motivation and that is what bothers us. the severity of the counterstance always seems ill matched with the scenario. so either we have her over reacting or underplaying the reactions. and what is even more irritating is the fact that her reactions always seem overblown only with respect to armaan.

she forgave anjali in a jiffy over the bet issue, but not armaan...possibly the most palatable of all situations. she forgave her family with amazing ease, considering their folly (if you could call it one) was greater than armaan's. after all they had hidden the truth from her for 20 years, while armaan had done that for about a week.

and now when we want to see her anguish over the disaster in her life...there she goes again!!! underplaying it all!! thankfully, this time around, armaan is, for a change, at the receiving end of her mellowness, however unreal it may be!!!

she did start of very well with the banter scenes. off late, i think the creatives just haven't given her scope to show her initial brilliance. actually i thought she was best at those banter scenes right at the start of the show!!

like sareeta mentioned...she is being bortrayed as a bit of a bimbo right now and she doesn't have that in her. she comes across as a very smart person otherwise...
