I think she was supposed to wait until May to announce her next, but due to the pregnancy rumors and speculations that she's not doing anything, she came out with the announcement earlier.

Kareena Kapoor Khan has been approached for Ribhu Dasgupta's thriller which will see her kicking and punching.

Filmmaker Ribhu Dasgupta who directed Amitabh Bachchan in a first-of-itskind television drama series, Yudh in 2014, had been away in Kolkata, filming his upcoming thriller Te3n, featuring the Big B, Vidya Balan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui which opens this summer. Now, Mirror has learnt that the writer-director has already started penning his next thriller.

Ribhu shared the script with Kareena Kapoor Khan in March and it was only last week that the actress agreed that she was keen to do the yet-to-be-titled thriller. It rolls in June.

In an interview to Mirror (February 23) the actress had admitted to rejecting over six scripts in the last three months, including Raj Kumar Gupta's Section 84 in which she was to play a schizophrenic and Sanjay Gupta's revenge-drama Kaabil opposite Hrithik Roshan. "Yes, I have become choosy and I don't want to do films back-to-back. I will begin my next film around June and have been reading a lot of scripts. I am not insecure, and in no hurry either. I am content with where I am and have a large and diverse body of work behind me (Vishal Bhardwaj's Omkara and Sudhir Mishra's Chameli to Rohit Shetty's Golmaal 3) and would love to play interesting characters," she had asserted, adding that she'd love to work with new directors who have a story to tell.

Kareena is currently in Bangkok shooting a commercial and will start prepping up for the thriller once she's back this weekend. "She is excited to be playing a serious, deglam, independent woman who finds herself in the midst of chaos when things don't go as planned. She will also be seen kicking and punching, it's unlike anything Kareena has done before," the source adds.

if its a thriller, fine, but action?
last time she told me to run to nearest theater to see her do action was in Tashan. during promotions she said, the action in tashan will blow my head off...the climax where she said she is doing action with water hose...never seen before on Indian screen!
oh well...I did run to theater and did indeed got blown away...UP!!! totally dimaag ki fuse blow hogayi...still recovering.
