21 years ago Abasaheb had insulted and thrown out Kumudini and Tulsi out of Krishnawati. After 21 yrs Kumudini vows to take revenge from Abasaheb. Here Tulsi has a daughter named Aradhya who studies in Pune. She comes to Krishnawati and stops a Devdasi ritual being carried out but herself gets trapped in it on Abasaheb's orders. A guy named Aryan rescues her but they are unable to see each other.
Kumudini returns to Krishnawati under the pretext of wanting to spend her last few days in her village as she has faked having cancer infront of her daughter Tulsi and granddaughter Aradhya. Meanwhile Aradhya who is unaware of the truth that even her mother and grandma are Devdasis comes to know of the truth and is heartbroken. Later Aryan and Aradhya meet in college and after some initial misunderstandings they both realize that Aryan had saved Aradhya and become friends.Soon Aradhya leaves Pune as she feels that she needs to stay with her family. Aryan searches for her but cannot find her. Soon even Aryan decides to go back to his family. Interestingly Aryan is Abasaheb's grandson.
Aryan and Aradhya's mother tell them as to why both families hate each other - Kumudini was a Krishnadasi and married to Lord Krishna but she used to serve Abasaheb's sister's husband. Soon they had a daughter but Abasaheb's sister is unable to bear this and commits suicide. Kumudini desires to go and stay in her village Krishnawati with her daughter. Abasaheb hates Kumudini for ruining his sister's life. As years pass by, Abasaheb's daughter Saraswati and Tulsi become friends. But Saraswati runs away and marries a man named Michael from a different religion. Abasaheb's wife commits suicide as she is unable to face the humiliation. Abasaheb disowns his daughter and throws Tulsi and Kumudini out of the village since he suspects Tulsi of having a hand in this. He also slaps various allegations against Kumudini and Tulsi. Tulsi clarifies to Aradhya that she had no hand in this. Pavitra(Aryan's mom) on the other hand suspects Tulsi of trying to trap her husband Shashwat therefore she hates them.
Both mothers tell Aryan and Aradhya their version of the story so they feel that their respective families are correct. Later Aryan in a fit of anger tries to burn down Kumudini's house but Aradhya stops him and they finally meet where they learn of each others identities and break their friendship.
Also while Aryan and Aradhya are away, Kumudini plots with a man named David(known as Devesh by all) to defame Abasaheb by spoiling Abasaheb's granddaughter Gayatri's image and forcing her to marry David. David aka Devesh is Saraswati's brother-in-law and has come to village to take revenge for Saraswati and is not ready to accept Gayatri until Abasaheb, Shashwat and Aryan apologize to him and Saraswati. Meanwhile Saraswati is in hospital fighting cancer and wishes to meet her family. Current track is showing how Aryan and Aradhya have vowed to lessen the differences between the two families as they have realized that both families are at fault thus they they will be seen working at each other's house.
