My box office predictions for Ki and Ka

To be honest, I don't think that the promos of KI AND KA have been impressive. The theatrical trailer showed practically nothing in terms of story, and it came across as if the film is about two sex-driven characters (Arjun Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor). The trailer even ends with them about to have sex. Nothing else is really shown. The song promos seem out of place and come across as music videos for a flop film.

Having said that, stars in the industry have praised the film. The most interesting review though was that of KRK, who trashed the film at interval point but after watching the film, he called it a good film for the urban audience.

The biggest positive for the film is that the film only needs to collect 35 crores to recover costs, according to Indicine. That shouldn't be a tough task given the fact that Arjun Kapoor's last two solo films FINDING FANNY and TEVAR, both which didn't do well at the box office, each respective film collected 35+ crores lifetime collection.

KI AND KA will likely recover costs, but it won't be a major grosser of any type as I feel that the audience word of mouth from those who watch the film will be on the negative side.

The screen count of KI AND KA is higher than FINDING FANNY but less than TEVAR. The opening day will be better than FINDING FANNY (which did approx 5 crores), but less than TEVAR (which did approx. 7 crores) as TEVAR held appeal for a wider audience.

Opening Weekend: 20+ crores net

Lifetime Collections: 36 crores net

Overall Box Office Verdict: Average

EDIT: I forgot to add, here's another reason why I think the film will not be well-made :

R Balki (Director): "After Shamitabh', Big B and Jaya ji kept telling me, Please don't take another three to four years more to come up with your next film'. "Then I decided to make this film."
