Chapter 20
They have returned back from Goa trip and all had left for their respective homes. Then in evening Rey called all the family in drawing room, Manik was present there too.
"Rey, what happened? Why you called us here?" Ranvijay asked his son.
"Dad, I wanted to talk about this from very long-" Rey started off, all look at him curiously, not understanding what he was talking about.
"I want divorce from sharon." And then, He said it loud and clear. All eyes widen in shock while sharon was expecting it somewhere, wasn't too shocked. She was hurt that he didn't even tried understanding her.
"Rey, Have you gone mad? Marriage is not some joke, that you break it whenever you want-" Enraged avantika shouted at her son.
"Yes, mom, Marriage is not some joke and you should have thought about it before you forced me to marry her." Rey replied back sharply.
"You guys ruined my life by caging me in this unwanted marriage And now its enough, I want freedom from this so-called relation." Rey told them, in Goa itself he had decided he will end this as soon as possible. Now he doesn't care what his family want, he had always done things for their happiness, but for once he wants to be selfish and think about his own happiness.
"We are no one to decide this. Its up to sharon, if she agree then who are we to stop you from walking out of this marriage." Ranvijay said to him son who look at him in shock.
"Wow! Dad. You are still giving the right to decide about my life to someone else? You just proved my happiness doesn't matter to you-" Rey spoke in venom dripping tone.
"She will never agree for divorce, because i know a stubborn selfish girl like her, will always think about herself first. I did told her countless time before marriage that i'm not interested in this marriage, yet she chose to betray me and said yes to marriage." Rey growled at her, making her close her eyes in regret. Tears rolled down her cheeks.
"I did all that because i love you!" Sharon shouted back in helplessness.
"But i don't and you knew it from start." Rey snapped back at her. Sharon nodded, it was the cruel reality she chose to ignore. She had hoped that one day he will fall for her, but she was wrong.
"You want divorce, Fine. Get the papers, I will sign them and free you from this relation, then you are free to go back that home-wrecking wh**e of yours." Sharon sneered at him, now it was again a shock for other members. Avantika closed her eyes in pain, she felt anger bubble up inside him knowing Rey is doing all this for another girl.
Rey glared at her angrily, for using those word for her, he felt like killing her. He was about to retort back when his father cut him off.
"You are having an affair? I never expected this from you, Rey. You disappoint me-" Ranvijay said sadly, he walked over sharon.
"You deserve better, sharon beta. I think its better you get separated from him and move on in your life. I'm sorry for ruining your life." Ranvijay said to her. Rey narrowed his eyes, wasn't he the one suffering here?
"But let me make one thing clear to you, Rey, To break your relation with sharon, you will have to break every relation with us." Ranvijay said to Rey, who was quiet expecting this, wasn't shock. He knew his parents will not understand him, but like last time, he wasn't going to bend down to their demands and ruined three lives again.
"If thats the price of my freedom then i agree. But let me also tell you one thing, dad, try to understand your child too." Rey said to his father.
"Rey, remember one thing, I'll not accept any other girl in this house. For me, Sharon is my daughter-in-law and no one else can take her place." Avantika said to her son, deep down she hope he will change his decision and stay back.
"You can take your luggage and leave the house, Rey. And yeah, no need to come to office from tomorrow. I'll also see till when that girl will stay with you when you no longer will have all the money and luxury-" Ranvijay said to him, now this was shocker for him but he smiled.
"Don't worry, Dad. I won't take a penny from you. I'm very much capable of earning on own. Thank you for what you have done for me till now-" Rey said to his father, who looked unaffected but deep down, he was hurt too, for making him go through this, but anger overtook the hurt.
"Uncle. You are being too harsh on him. Like everyone else, he have right to chose his life partner." Manik interrupted, but rey signaled him to stay quiet. He went upstairs. After some time he came back with his luggage in his hands. Nandini ran to her brother.
"Bhai. Please don't go-" Nandini pleaded to her brother while sobbing silently, the sudden happenings in the house has broken her happy family.
"Sh. Don't cry. And i can't stay, but i promise i'll always be there for you. I'm just a call away-" Rey mumbled softly, he wiped her tears and kissed her forehead before he walked out of the house with his luggage. Manik ran behind him.
"Dude! Can you drop me at penthouse?" Rey asked him, realizing he can't his car anymore. Manik nodded, they walked toward where his car was parked, Manik kept his luggage then turned to him.
"What now?" Manik asked him.
"I don't know. But i'm happy i took the stand which i should have taken long back." Rey smiled sadly, They sat inside the car and drove away to his penthouse.
"What about your work? How will you manage that?" Manik asked him, he was worried about his best friend who had just lost his almost everything because he chose to be with his love then tied up in an unwanted relation in which 3 lives were getting ruined.
"I will have to start from scratch." Rey said him, whatever he had except few properties, were from his dad's business in which he had put all his hard-work and took it on number one position, but now he don't think he have right to use the money he had earned from his father's business. He wanted to prove his father that he can take care of himself alone, nor taani will leave him because he doesn't have luxury.
"Job is not an option here, since knowing who am i, no one will appoint me and also, it will affect dad's reputation. So I'll start some business from whatever money i have of my own." Rey said to him.
"Call me if you need any help." Manik said to him, earning a positive nod from him.
"Right now, I'm more worried about taani. She already blame herself for everything, god knows how i'm going to make her understand this time." Rey sighed, not knowing how will break this news to her, and knowing her, he knew she will blame herself.
"Don't worry, Rey. She will understand-" Manik assured him, but even he knew it wasn't going to be that easy.
