It was a ruining of GE
Katrina's blank expressions and horrid Urdu
Adi's lack of presence and shaky acting
Tabu's overacting

Tabu's character is Miss Havisham. I think a fascinating character who was bright and vivacious at one time and was jilted. So she turns against the world and men in particular and basically raises Estella (the character played by Kat) to be cold and cruel. In the end she realizes her mistake and asks Pip (ARK's character) for forgiveness.. If she is played well and there are versions like the Helena Bonham Carter ones which are played very well this character is multi layered like in the book, not one dimensional as Tabu played it.

so as I said, she trains kat to be cold and cruel and to fall in love with ark to destroy him so he can feel what she felt? What if ark isn't in love with her, what then? What if he just moves on? her plan flops rite there.

who were kats parents?

and did she really ask for his forgiveness? they didn't even show how she died.

who was that other guy that kat was talking to like he was in love with tabu, that was never shown.

I went to watch that song, I thought at least the song would be paisa vasool but motherphuckers chopped that song 😡

Glad I am not the only one who felt confused watching the film. When katrina reunites with adi and says to him "how is Delhi treating you, love?" I was expecting. More British accent as her character lived there for 15 years. But nooo it was very American sounding. Also 'knorr' okay.

it is not tabu's fault if it turned out one dimensional

the director just failed to use a powerhouse actress to her potential

Tabu has been around for a long time that she does not need a director to tell her what to do. At this stage in the game she is supposed to bring her understanding of it and make up for the director's misses if any. She is supposed to be one of the best. It is what the truly greats do.

In BW people make a lot of noise about not having good female characters or well nuanced characters. Well Miss. Havisham is certainly not one dimensional nor was she played by others as such. I have watched several versions of it and if it is played by consistently good actresses then you get an Anne Bancroft or a Helena Bonham Carter version. If it is rather not so good shall we say we get a Gillian Anderson version. Tabu's was better than Gillian and acting wise certainly miles above ARK and Katrina, but these two were never good actors anyway. But it certainly does not stack up to the great versions of Miss. Havisham IMO. I would have loved to have Rekha in that part. What was missing to me was a certain gravitas which Tabu failed to convey and it could just be her age but then again HBC had it so..

Pardon the late reply, I did not see the thread. Also, I remember the book more than things specific to Fitoor so if you find something confusing that is the reason. I've also watched multiple versions of this, so I maybe confusing things. 😆 That said.

The plan was not just ARK's character (Pip) sorry I don't remember his character's name specifically but men in general. ARK just happened to be there. If he moved on someone else would have fallen for Firdaus's beauty and Begum would have got her revenge IMO

As for Estella's (Firdaus) parents in the book IIRC, her father is the convict Pip meets in the graveyard and is his secret benefactor. I think her mom is a servant and murdered someone, not very sure about this. In the movie, it should be the character played by Ajay Devgan, I don't remember here but I don't think it's him.

In the book Miss.Havisham apologizes IIRC

Not sure about the last question.

Clear as mud ? 😆

This film was a complete disappointment. Firstly, i found Tabu very mechanical and monotonous in the film. did not enjoy her performance. Katrina was bland, an epic misfit, she does look good, but her character was not even on the screen for half of the film. Aditya was good in parts, but overall the film sucked.
