Sudha Chandran's elimination was a shock to viewers. But Prachi Desai's elimination has come as a bigger blow. "We can't believe she's out!" exclaimed Sujatha Shah, a housewife. There has to be some problem with the elimination process," says Shah. The sentiment against the voting process is getting stronger and people are wondering if people's votes are really considered at all. "Why would a good dancer like Prachi not get votes, while all the others on the show have managed to," wonders Binoy Jain, a collegian. He further adds, "If it depends on people's votes then Prachi should be getting a lot of them because she is very popular." In the episode during Diwali when Prachi was eliminated, the other contestant along with her in the danger zone was actor Jay Bhanushali. And everyone was certain Jay would be out. But when Prachi's name was announced the judges were as shocked as the audiences. Jay too looked equally stunned because he did not expect to win over Prachi. "Reality shows are very strange and can throw up the oddest of results. The best contestant may be shown the door, while the worst continues to stay on," concurs Babita Mirani, a businesswoman. Regionalism has crept in in a big way, says Shyam Purohit, who works for an MNC. "The fact that Mika without much dancing talent and with low scores from the judges is still managing to stay on indicates that he's getting a lot of votes from his state," says Purohit. Nayana Chawla, a housewife, who loves Bani (Prachi's onscreen name) is now hopeful that the young actress will be brought back on the show. "There is a wild card entry and I hope they bring Prachi back. She's the youngest contestant on the show and so full of enthusiasm. She's very inspiring for other youngsters," says Chawla. |
