Firstly my post is not to cause any conflict between writers and readers but point out what I have observed a lot here. Also please do close this topic if it causes any conflict here.

Okay this is something that I am pushed to post this after being on the forum since 2012 being a regular reader who comments on stories.
I come here only to read Ffs by some of the Brilliant writers shows what makes IF appealing to me. All of my posts except a couple are comments on stories here.

Writing is not a piece of cake. It takes time and effort to write a story taking time out of personal lives.

Readers appreaciation motivates the writers to give it their best.

Readers who like and comment on a story give a boost to the writers :-)

However Some silent readers dont comment due to whatever reasons.

It isn't wrong on the writers part to expect likes and comment to gauge the response.

But how fair is it to ppl who read regularly and comment on it when writers write notes like if I don't get these many likes or comments I'll stop writing and genuine readers who then request or plead them to not stop writing.

I have done that many times since 2012 and I always comment yet have to request writers because I was so into the stories. Then after a while it became irrelevant. Writers ultimately stop if they want , no matter how much time I as a reader have invested in reading and commenting on it.

I have seen readers stop reading on-going stories because of this reason. I too am tempted to do that but I believe new writers need encouragement and support so don't ignore new writers.

So request to Readers please acknowledge the effort of a writer if you can read a whole update hitting like button or writing a few words in comment wouldn't take much time.

Put yourself in the writers place, they have to face plagiarism too yet they spend their time to write and post their work and keep us entertained and all they expect a 1 min of our time to say few words.

Same with writers when you first started writing there was no standard no of likes and comments. You wrote because you felt like writing and sharing. What exactly changed that you want N no of likes and comments or you'll stop writing when there are genuine amount of readers who spend their time reading your work appreciating you.

Writers need to acknowledge and appreciate readers too. Notes like I'll stop writing etc sound like its some favour on the readers.

Fans of IPKKND love Arshi and want to read stories on them even after so many years. Its the writers here and readers of the same that has kept IPKKND alive in our hearts. We already have seen so many good writers leave the forum so please motivate those who have stuck around.

Please show respect towards each other and acknowledge and appreciate the efforts of each other.

Thank you Writers and IF for keeping IPKKND and Arshi alive. Readers please help them keep our forum alive. These ffs keep our forum alive and going and IPKKND is most popular forum on IF. So for the love of our show that means so much to us after 4 years please support each other to keep it going.

very well said, it is for both readers and writers.
Once upon a time i was a regular reader of arshi stories, but now I am skeptical about reading any story, that is why I never send any buddy request nor i ask any one to send pm, if I like read, some stories I follow for which I dont get any lPm and I dont have any complaint about, similarly sometimes I get PMs for the stories, when I start following it, suddenly one day the writer vanishes especially without putting any note or saying that will update by this date positively and then not even responding to pms, there are really many stories which are awesome but unfortunately left with no further notes from the writer and not even responds to pm.

So i have my own reservations sometime I wait for the story to get completed and then read at my own pace.

I second that just like writers expect comments and likes similarly the reader expects an update and completion of story, it would be wrong on either part to disrespect each bother, because both of them have invested their time by writing/reading respectively.

Hey reenee,
Well said. May be I am part of the writers you talk about ;)?

Yes when we come into writing world we all get carried away with no. Of likes and comments. And even I did (if you remember).

But then, after a certain point I realised that I am writing and sharing for my satisfaction not for others.

This thought gave me peace and allowed to continue this writing when I wanted.

A simple example, when someone asks me to write a story on a particular concept, I write an os and post them.

But the same person wants it to be continued (since I was getting high likes and comments) I continue it even without not being interested.

Somewhere along the line I will continue this until I reach a point where the likes and comments gradually decrease and only few sincere readers like you are left with.

But for me likes and comments are the major factor that led me to continue the one shot. So when I was not getting them, then, I will ultimately stop or discontinue after few warnings.

Its all the fame that goes around here.

As you see, as a writer people goes through this.

But once, they realise writing is no joking and if they want to seriously continue then they will, No matter of how many readers they have.

A beautiful post and a very, very essential one. It would only take a minute to encourage someone and add some positivity. Let us all resolve to do what we can in the interest of keeping our lovely memories of this epic show alive...in our hearts and on this forum.😊

Best,

And ya, we can't blame writers for this expectations too. I am not saying they are right always.

When a new writer starts his / her story, he or she won't expect anything. Most of them are simply here to test there self.

But gradually, when people wants to read more and requests for pm, they do accept and send requests every time.

When you send PMS to so many people(who wanted to receive them and m not talking about sending PMS randomly to advertise), you believe they wants to read and so you are sending.

So when they don't receive the same and at least a satifisfactory response, then, the writer is unhappy and may probably stopping the ff bcoz he / she thinks nobody is interested in his or her work.

Or may be that person who is well acquainted with likes, comments and then-post-a-chapter concept can't digest it.

And there canbe n reasons.

In fact, I would suggest as a writer, that when readers are more interactive and open about what they feel about the plot and the story, the better that would be for both of them.

For example, instead of a single word like nice, if you(reader) say what you like and why you like.

And this doesn't stop only with positive things. Bcoz when readers doesn't like the way the plot is moving forward most of them simply stop reading it and writers (seeing the no. Of likes and comments reduce starts asking and trying to advertise more but actually fail to see that people left only bcoz they don't like the ongoing plot.

Instead of stop following the story, may be the reader can inform the same to the writer and explain what he didn't like.

If after that, if the reader decided to discontinue following the story, the writer at least will now what is the reason and what to be done.

So there are so many confusing, complex factors around this
