"At Jhalak, I finally got a chance to play myself" - Prachi Desai
A teenager who played the role of mother and bahu with ease finally got a chance to dance like the young girl she actually is. As fresh as a dewdrop, Prachi Desai did so well in the show that Jeetendra burst into tears when she was voted out. Jay Bhanushali said he would prefer going out than saying goodbye to her. We spoke to a shocked Prachi right after her elimination. How does it feel to be among the best and yet be out of the show? [Laughs] It's very sweet of you to say that… thank you so much. I am extremely upset that I am out. For the first two minutes I just couldn't believe it, but then I had to hide the feeling inside. I guess I've to go home and then react to this. My mother was also very upset and I just didn't want to cry before her. Did you expect the elimination? Before this I had never expected it. But from the time I was getting ready this morning till we actually got eliminated, I kept telling Deepak that I think we're going. I had a premonition. We were preparing for this special performance this morning when I told Deepak How was the experience in Jhalak? Jhalak is the best thing that has happened to me after Kasam Se. I still don't want to leave because I loved it so much. What made you take part in the show? I think there was no reason for me to not take part in the show. This was the best way for a TV actress like me to do something different. I have always wanted to learn something different, and, personally, I wouldn't have gone to learn dance because I usually don't have the time. But Jhalak gave me all the time and the stage on which to perform. It was indeed a great opportunity. If not you, who should have been voted out? Today I feel nobody should go because I know how it feels like to be eliminated. But somebody has to go and this time it was my chance. But thankfully I don't have to go through the same feeling every Saturday. If the audience like an artist so much and vote for them, they've all the right to be there. How was it to compete with someone as senior as Negiji? We all look up to him and get the spirit from him. What life has taught him and Sudhaji, we can learn from them. Are you considering doing a film now? Did you get any offers? Surprisingly, it was in the paper yesterday that I was doing a film, but nothing has been finalised… there was no fixed meeting as such. Yes, I was approached for a film, but I don't want to speak about it because nothing has been finalised. You started working at the age of 17. How was it like to play a mother at that age? I wasn't actually getting married at 17, I was just playing a role. And it was not difficult. I know people feel that I've achieved a lot at a young age. I feel I still have a long way to go. I have to work harder. I am just starting my journey. Did you ever want to play your age on television?

I have forgotten about all that because I got to do Jhalak. I didn't have to play a fictitious character; I was actually playing myself.

It is wonderful that she left the show in such a composed fashion. She did not deserve to go and no one expected it. Kudos to her for being so positive! Just hope she can bounce from this to do bigger and better things. One things is for sure, JDJ won't be the same without her.
