Actually what I felt bad about the episode was she was being compared and put down. Had she been 'successful' in Shravan's terms, would he have used these same lines?

And who can define 'success'?

Suman can proudly stand up and say she is 'self made'. She is not living anyone else's dream. She is battling her nightmares.

Glad people could connect to what I was trying to say.

My thoughts exactly!
Definition of success changes from person to person.
And the unpopular, nerdy and caring teenage Shravan was a much better human being than the successful, handsom and scheming Shravan that he has become.

The young Shravan was the only one who knew about the young Sumo's image-conscious nature. This facet about her self where she pretends to be something else in front of her friends in school was something only Shravan knew; none of her other friends in school knew about her this side. But did Shravan know about the meek Suman at home? I guess Shravan doesn't know to what extent Suman is considered as a burden by her relatives.

Thank U.

Shravan seems to have read Suman wrong entirely. He did not realise that what she had shown him was the real Sumo and the image was just a fantasy she escaped to, in her naivety. In all their years of association, was there not even a single moment when Sumo showed she cared for him?

I have a feeling that those days, Sumo was not so meek at home either. Probably the demands grew as she became older.
