He was being practical and what he said was real concern for them as Sona is bread earner of the house. It doesn't mean he doesn't love his sister or doesn't want her to be happy and settle. I don't know what exactly his story and why is he not earning but in indian families, its ridiculous that when daughter gets married she cant give money to her parents. His concerns are not something absurd.

Of course she is the breadwinner of the house... but what is the solution to this? That her parents will never seek to get her married?! 😲

As the son and older brother, he should try to provide, shouldn't he? He can't seem to hold a job but there are other ways of making money - ways that are suitable to every temperament, surely?

His parents talk of getting her married, and the first thought that comes to him is not whether the man is a suitable partner for his precious sister, but how the household will be run! It speaks of a sharply self centered man.

Whether Sona can support her parents after being married is another matter altogether. But I find her brother a man of very ambiguous moral values. A deep selfishness cloaked in good natured friendliness.

Nice post..
It seems like he is not worried about not doing any job. How long he will depend on his sister?

My question is why is her brother sitting at home watching TV all the day without any effort to earn any money . I thought he was to go to Chandigarh for job interview for which he even took money from his so supportive sister... I just hope his attitude improve s in the future. Right now I find him a selfish free ke meheman wo vi permanent wala

He did not say never. I think he just means about present. When he will find job and can suport family, he will not have that concern.

That's what I said. Why is it responsibility of older son? Even daughters can provide it. He might be having problem in finding job that suits him. He did try different jobs. I don't find anything wrong in his concerns. The way Dev did not settle down while providing everything to his family, there is nothing wrong in Sona getting married late due to family problem. And if sisters can depend on brothers, brothers can depend on sisters too. It really depends on how is their relationship and I don't see anything wrong in Sona-her brother relationship. It becomes difficult for outsiders who follow social rules to understand it.

Yes, I do hope so... but doubt it. Serial toh abhi shuru hua hai!! The family situation is surely going to be a factor for Sona not to get married!

It's not a question of feminism - it's a matter of character. He's willing to let someone else struggle and take up burdens when he not willing to do it himself. That's the issue.
He's not saying 'help me out a little here', he's saying, 'you can, so why don't you?'
But we're just looking at it differently, never mind 😃.
