Most touching part of yesterday's episode to me was the dialogue of Sita with the horse. Where she tells you run for the glory of your land. You cannot tell anyone you feel tired, you are hungry. Because that is not expected out of you. You are the best horse. No one wants to understand your emotions. Everyone thinks you have none. But you can talk to me. I understand you.

What a beauty it was and the underlying message. Yes the best are expected to run, run for the glory of the land they represent, the family they represent. No one is concerned about their feelings because it is their duty to run. And after they complete the run, bring success. Sacrifice them. Because that is how you get glory.

It is not just about the horse sacrifice. It is about the sacrifice of people we do daily for our own glory. The soldiers that die in borders because of power games. The freedom fighters who gave up their life for the betterment of society all belong to this category. Does anyone think of the people fighting in the borders for keeping us safe. Does anyone think of their families. Truthful answer is no. We dont. When 26/11 happened more care went to the upkeep of the terrorist than the family member of the slain policeman who catched him alive.
Because policemen and soldiers are doing their duty. They will get sacrificed. Now leave soldiers and policemen. what about in families. Every family will have someone on whose burden of expectations is kept. He or she is supposed to behave in certain way else the family pride will be lost. Let other members misbehave, cut them emotionally into pieces but they have to uphold dharma or be mute just like the animal, because sacrifice is expected out of them.

And Sita in caring for the horse shows she will understand and care for the emotions of the man on whose shoulders the burden of Raghuvansh glory will fall. With scant regard to his emotions and feelings when the society and family keeps demanding him from more, she will stand by him as his strength.

Beautiful, analysis..Shruthi.
Rarely we get to watch shows with such powerful under lying messages., which in turn lead to the essence of the story.

For me, this is the most 'educative' Ramayana, I've come across.

Hope it continues this way.

So well said. Yes without them we r not safe physically or socially and yet their sacrifice means nothing.. Their loss means nothing... The families left behind get no thought.. Even a stars tantrum is big news but the person protecting our nation is ignored.. U r right...the protest for Orop is a clear example...

@Shruthi: Excellent post. Many times we fail to value the right person. Even in entertainment field we praise the onscreen stars and the directors/writers but not the technicians and workers. Nothing can be stated as single person achievement. Honoring the person who initiated the work is right but we should also acknowledge all the associated members in the success of the mission. As long as the people has selective amnesia nation cant move forward.
Here Ram and Sita both felt for horse which surved his purpose w/o any expectation. So if we do our duty w/o any expectation we will be saved and blessed by god.

Yes Ramya. When we dont honor the sacrifice of the people who have bought us this far and tell that it was just their duty, we are doing a great dis service to us actually. And yes people always talk about rights, but what about duties ? That is one area no one wants to touch.

Shruthi, lovely post. It's very true that we ignore the services of people in the name of duty. We always fall short to acknowledge their selfless act towards us.
