Chapter 9

Maanvi gets up from dressing table to make her bed. She approaches the other side of bed to grab pillow and sheet to sleep on the floor near bed as before. As soon as she picked up a pillow, rahul grabbed it from other end.

At that point maanvi gave him a look of what now?'

She tried to pull pillow free from his grasp but he pulled it back. After trying to free it a few times, maanvi let go of that pillow and tried to get other one. But rahul pulled that one away too and stuffed it in his lap. Whichever pillow maanvi reached for, rahul got to it first and now has hold on all of them.

Irritated by this, maanvi complained "yeh kya hai rahul? Tumko neend nahi aa rahi hogi par mujhe sona hai. Itni raat ho gayi hai aur tumko khel sooj raha hai."

Rahul smiled his innocent smile and kept staring at her.

Maanvi~ "Theek hai. Mat do. Rakho apne pillow apne paas." And turned around to go to her spot on floor to sleep.

Rahul~ "Are maanvi, maanvi maanvi... acha lo, ye pillow lelo..." handing out one pillow to maanvi.

Maanvi came back to take the pillow. As she grabbed the pillow, rahul pulled it so hard that maanvi fell on top of him. They didn't notice where that pillow went, all they could see were each other. Rahul's hands were around maanvi, while her hands rested on his chest.

There eyes did their magic again. Frozen into each others arms, they must have been like that for few seconds or few minutes... who knows.

Maanvi was the one to break eye contact and she got little shy to be so close to rahul. She tried to get up but rahul pulled her close and turned around. Now maanvi was under him and pinned down. Her breathing shallow but rapidly coming and going.

She whispered "Rahul..." and that's all that came out of her mouth.

Rahul~ "Bolo maanvi..." he whispered as well. The whole conversation was going to be like that as if there was no need for words any more and eyes can do all the rest.

Maanvi~ "Mujhe neend aa rahi hai."

Rahul~ "To so jao. Mana kisne kiya hai?"

Her heart skipped a beat. She took another breath before finding her words again.

Maanvi~ "Mujhe chodo to..."

Rahul replied in a no' by shaking his head slightly. Maanvi gasped as her heartbeat just rose at that reply.

Rahul~ "Acha ek condition par chodoonga. Manzoor hai?"

Maanvi didn't even cared to find out what condition and just agreed to it. Each passing moment was making it harder and harder for her to control her feelings. Her cheeks were turning red and rahul moved a little closer just to tease her. Maanvi gasped thinking if this was his condition.

But then rahul moved away and said "Just remember your promise."

Maanvi quickly rose up from bed took the pillow and went to her spot near the bed and tried to fall asleep. Wondering about what just happened, what if rahul brings up some crazy condition? "He wouldn't ... would he?" that's all she could think about until she fell asleep.

Rahul was cheerful as he sinked in his bed. He had this glitter in his eyes as he knew what maanvi must have thought as he closed in but that was not what he wanted from maanvi. He would never force her into something she would not consent to on her own. There will be time for that but he needs to help her explore her feelings first. Once they both undrestand what they truly feel, that would be the best day of their life.

Someplace not very far from the city, guru ji with his two disciples were in deep meditation. He opened his eyes and wondered how did he lost to some girl that has no knowledge of how to work with powers she didn't even knew off just two days ago.

Someone must have played from his blind spots. Someone he and his men were not following or keeping an eye on. But he made sure maanvi never finds out about the curse or own powerful energies that could help in breaking of the curse. Raj was his ace of cards to keep maanvi away.

Frustrated, he threw away the stuff near him and shouted "Kaise?!... Aakhir kaise?!... Meri itni savdhani ke bavjood, uss ladki ko rahul ke shrap ke baare mein kaise pata chala? Kisne bataya hoga iss shrap ke bare mein? Aur to aur, itna asaan nahi tha uss shrap ko todna... Jaise jaise samay beet raha tha, rahul aur sher ki aatma ek ho rahe the. Phir ussko kaise pata chala ki kya karne se rahul aur sher ki aatma alag ho jayenge. Koi to hai jiske baare me mujhko nahi pata, jisne iss sab me maanvi ki madad ki hai."

Disciple 1~ "But guru ji... maanvi ko to humne kisi se milte dekha hi nahi..."

Disciple 2~ "Ji guru ji, aapne to maanvi par nazar rakhne ke liye aadmi lagaye the. Phir bhala maanvi kab aur kis se milli?"

Guru ji~ "Hume pata nahi par jisne bhi maanvi ko bataya, usse pata tha ki humne maanvi par nazar rakhi hai. Bahut shatir hai wo jo mere kaam me badha daal raha tha. Phir rahul ka bhag janaa... wo koi ittefak nahi tha. Kuch to hai iss maanvi ke bare mein jo mujhe nahi pata hai. Maine raj se kundli maangi bhi thi par usne mujhe maanvi ki kundli nahi di... Meri itni saaloon ki mehnat, ek hi pal me bekaar ho gayi. Ab mujhe kuch doosra raasta nikalna padega."

Guru ji may have lost this round but this was for sure that he didn't take this defeat from maanvi and her unknown helper well. It was far from being over. This may have been a new beginning of a battle between guru ji and sabarwals.

Maanvi opens her eyes, it was still midnight. She was feeling anxious but had no clue why. She turns around to see where rahul was sleeping and gets shocked. Rahul was not on the bed! She looks around calling out his name but he wasn't there. She notices the open window and curtain flapping off from the wind that was coming in. she rushes towards it and looks outside.

Rahul was walking away in his black hoodie.

"Rahul!!..." she called out to him.

Rahul stops hearing his name. As he turns around, maanvi can easily make out his bright golden eyes!

Maanvi wakes up abruptly! "Rahul..." it was a nightmare. She was sweating and panting. She looks towards the bed and rahul was actually missing!

Maanvi~ "Rahul... rahul... " she almost broke into tears not finding him.

Rahul appeared from the bathroom. Hearing worried maanvi, he rushed to her and came to her side, "Kya hua maanvi... kya hua? Main yahi hoon. Main yahi hoon..." he said consoling scared maanvi.

Finding rahul, maanvi just hugged him and tears came down from her eyes. Rahul put his arms around her as well. Maanvi knew she was afraid of losing rahul. She was sure the spirit was gone but just the thought of losing rahul was scary enough for her.

Rahul~ "Kya hua Maanvi?... Koi bura sapna dekha kya?" he had concern in his voice.

Maanvi still weeping nodded and said "Maine dekha ki tum bed par nahi the... tum khidki se bahar ja rahe the... tum... tum..." and she lost words.

"Ki main phir se sher ban gaya aur tumhe chod kar ja raha hoon?" rahul finished her sentence for her. He caressed her hairs away from her face, pulled her closer and looked in her eyes before saying

"Main yahin hoon maanvi. Aur main wada karta hoon ki main kahin nahi jaunga. Tumko chod kar kabhi nahi jaunga. I Love You Maanvi!"

Those words took maanvi by surprise. She must have forgotten to breathe for that moment.

Rahul wiped tears from her face as he continued...

"Tumhe nahi pata hai ki tum meri zindagi me kya mayne rakhti hoo maanvi. Tum meri zindagi ho. Zindagi ke bina bhi koi reh sakta hai kya? Tum mere pass ho, to lagta hai ki zinda hoon. Tum door hoti ho to saasein lena bhi mushkil hota hai. Mujhse kabhi bhi door mat hona maanvi..."

He hugged her as he finshed his sentence. Maanvi also rested her face on his chest, holding on to him. She could hear his heart beating. She slowly fell back into sleep in his arms.

Maanvi woke up next morning. She found herself carefully tucked in the sheets on the floor where she had slept last night. She remembered what happened last night and looked around. There was no rahul, his sheets have been neatly folded and bed fixed up as if no one slept there. Was she dreaming? Everything that happened and what rahul said in her dream felt so real... she couldn't decide what to believe except for one thing. Yes, she was afraid of losing rahul. Even the thought of losing him would be the death of her.

"...main wada karta hoon ki main kahin nahi jaunga. Tumko chod kar kabhi nahi jaunga. I Love You Maanvi!..." his words echoed in her mind.

Her heart skipped a beat or two. Just then door knob clicked and rahul entered with a tray of breakfast and tea.

Rahul~ "Good morning. Kal neend theek se aayi?"

Maanvi looked up at rahul as he placed the tray on the table. He came to her and offered his hand to help her up. Maanvi hesitated before giving her hand in his hand and rose up. Rahul served her some hot tea and added sugar just the way she likes it.

Rahul~ "Tumhari garam garam chai." passing the cup to her.

Maanvi took a sip and she could tell it is the most delicious ginger tea.

"Kaisi hai? Achi hai? Maine banayi hai, khaas tumhare liye."

Maanvi looked up at rahul. She didn't dream it last night. That was real, all real! He did confess his feelings for her. She could feel the sudden rush of blood to her face.

"Kya hua?... achi nahi bani?..." rahul had little disappointment in his tone.

Maanvi~ "Nahi, Bahut achi hai." She continued "tumne mere liye banayi? Mujhe nahi pata tha ki tum itni achi chai bhi bana lete ho."

Rahul smiled.

Raj found himself again outside upamanyu's hospital room. He looked around and there was no one except a nurse that used to monitor upamanyu's health at all times, he entered. He stared at upamanyu for good long 10 minutes reminding himself of days when they used to be the best of buddies.

"...first time upamanyu came to his old house to ask raj's dad to teach him, so unsure, so hesitant... raj met upamanyu and tried to scare him saying the master ji is very strict and does not forgive even a single mistake... but when upamanyu found out that he was only teasing him, he threw the most funny but innocent tantrum at same time... as they attended the class together, upamanyu started to help him with practices and soon became his best friend... upamanyu was always dedicated and hard working but he had the gift raj never had... raj always used to be his soul brother so when did raj started to get jealous of upamanyu, even he don't remember now..."

Raj never wanted to be enemies with upamanyu. If only had that competition and events after that had not turned out the way they did... how would have been things now?

Raj left again before anyone sees him here. "Upamanyu could have forgotten everything that happened and they could still be soul brothers, but he drew the wall simply because of one competition. Why should I apologize? I told him he can join hands with me and we can together reach the heights no one has ever achieved in musical history. Upamanyu was arrogant and insulted me. So be it, I don't have to feel guilty for anything." These thoughts kept repeating though he tried to convince that he did no wrong, but something was hurting him like a thorn in his sides. The old wounds have never been so painful before.
