Kareena of Kareena Kareena puts UTV, Balaji Telefilms and Aroona Irani on hold to take a breather
Unlike other actors who fret and fume when their show is in the midst of wrapping up, Kulraj Kaur is one helluva girl who is looking forward to bidding adieu to her first ever show. The lady who has been the face of Kareena Kareena says that she is planning to go on a long vacation after the show goes off air a few days from now.
After Kareena Kareena what are you looking forward to?
There are lots of things to do! I'm planning to go abroad for a long vacation. For the last year and half I've been shooting non-stop. I've had no time for myself. I want to take care of my health and groom myself. I feel that I can look a lot better. In a few months from now, you'll see an all-new Kulraj.
What about work? Don't you feel insecure about not having a single show on hand?
I'm not an insecure person. Plus it's not that I have no work to fall back on. I've been offered some interesting shows by Aroona Irani, UTV, Star Plus and Balaji as well. They're all great shows but as of now I'm not willing to do a daily show. And that's why I'm taking my time before committing to anyone of them. There are a few film offers but I haven't signed on the dotted line yet.
What kind of films are being offered to you?
I have been getting offers for all kind of movies. There is one typical masala, commercial film. There are a couple of crossover films as well. After Kareena Kareena I do not want to take up anything that is less than a lead character. Thankfully, the offers I'm getting have a lot of scope for me to perform. As of now, my priority is commercial films. I want to be associated with respectable names in the Hindi film industry.
But what if your filmi career does not take off?
I'm not the typical rona-dhona kind of a girl. If something doesn't work out, I'll move on. Television is something that one can come back to at any point in time. Also, it's not as if I'm giving up television. I'm only taking a breather. I'll figure things out properly once I am back.
Coming back to television, why are you averse to doing daily shows?
I know that daily shows are the name of the game. But for me, it's creativity that matters. If I'm shooting non-stop everyday, the stress will start showing on my face, health and eventually also in the way I perform. I know that daily shows assure you of a good amount of money. But money isn't my priority. Having said that, I'm not denying that we all work for money and fame. It is important but I'd now want to put myself above anything and everything. Hats off to other actors who actually shoot for three daily shows at a time. I envy them for having so much energy. However, I don't see myself following their footsteps.
Any unfulfilled dreams yet?
The only thing I've not done so far is to buy a house for myself. I've had no time to invest in a flat. Since the time I've come to Mumbai from Punjab, I've been living in a rented flat. Now that I'll have some time, I will look for a decent house for myself.
