@kabeeraspeaking: I don't get why it has to be female centric vs female centric, and other genre comparisons can't be made (such as thrillers regardless of female centric or male centric).

You judge within the genre because the constrains on female centric movies are different from those on other movies and therefore you judge the 'performance' of said movie with others that also experienced the same baseline factors (starpower, budget ranges, screens, etc.) Also, NH10 was compared with Badlapur if that rests your mind any. Since both movies did well and both actors were doing something different, media was happy.

ETA (again 😆): This is all not to say that I don't appreciate the sentiment here. It's awesome to see the ladies making a change and being at the helm of good movies that attain success. However, pitching numbers against males isn't really gonna benefit the 'female' cause right now. The best thing they can continue doing is to partake in great movies and show that good stories, whether with male or females (but especially associated with women to give them the push), can do well and are worth the audience's time.
