You're right.👍🏼 One thing that makes the jodi of RaNan interesting is the fact that they had known each other for a long time. Raju came to live in Model Town only after his father lost their home and they were forced to shift to a rented house. So they were'nt exactly kids, teenagers maybe.
And as you said, since the first epi , Raju and Nandu were shown to be at loggerheads. Nandu was always annoyed with Raju's corrupt and criminal way of getting things done that she used every opportunity to get back at him. Raju on the other hand had a playful attitude while dealing with Nandu. always flirting and teasing her. Still, both were shown to have an understanding of each other. Raju knew well of Nandu's hatred towards men and her tomboyish style.I remember that scene where Nandu , all anxious goes to Raju to enquire about Fakir Kakka gone missing. There's one instant where seeing her all teary eyed, Raju holds her and says with all seriousness , " I know you have a special bond with Fakir Kaka..." and the next second he returns to his usual playful mode. In that scene, I felt like he has deep understanding of Nandu than he thinks.RaNan are shown to have a really different relationship with each other. I dont think Raju either loved her or hated her at those times, it was more like they both were used to each other's presence. Also, Nandu was the only one in Model Town who used to stand up against Raju's deeds. She was like the only opponent he had, whom he loved to see riled up times with his flirtation. That episode where Nandu dresses up as Sita was confusing for me. Raju genuinely looked mesmerized by her and jealous with Ishwar, but in the next episode it all turned out to be Raju's plan to stop Ramleela.😔I had thought he was genuinely jealous, not because he loved her or anything, more like him being irritated with the fact that there was someone else coming in between the equation of both of them. Maybe I'm just thinking too much.😆Sorry, this came out long! 😃 Love RaNan !!. Can't stop writing about them.

First of all, a very interesting topic 👏 I enjoyed reading this...and it's something that I have thought about before and have also asked the RaNan fan within me 😆
Raju and Nandu have grown up knowing each other - and I guess that's why they know which buttons to press 😆 They also share similar backgrounds, as both of them have shared troubled relationships with their respective fathers. But when it comes to matters of the heart, I think there was always an attraction on Raju's part. He's always initiated the flirting and although he has ridiculed Nandu for her lack of feminine touch, he has shown moments of attraction such as when she first dressed up as Sita (As you mentioned) I think the things that he told her in that episode were genuine.
Also, there was that time when someone else was finalised as Ram, Raju had shown hints of jealousy. He kept an eye on Nandu during that time 😆 So he's always had a thing for her. But he would play it down through banter and leg pulling. And the fact that Nandu has always stood up to Raju has annoyed him 😆 she is his match 😉 and he knows it!
Nandu on the other hand has been a different case. In the early days of the show, we didn't see attraction from Nandu's side. In fact, it seemed as though the hatred was slightly stronger on her part. But that was probably due to the fact that Nandu didn't believe in love...and did not trust men. So it was largely due to her own insecurities more than anything. But I think Raju's aggression and rudeness towards her was because she always halted his plans, and also because it was kind of a cover up for his attraction. As they say, treat them mean, keep them keep 😆
Nandu however, constantly showed a strong dislike for Raju due to his twisted ways and behaviour. She couldn't handle him as a ruffian. But after her misunderstanding was cleared (after she was attacked) she began to see him in a different light and that's where the attraction started, and eventually love. There's a thin line between love and hate...so it was inevitable that Nandu would fall for Raju, and vice versa.
Raju and Nandu's relationship really facsinates me. We've seen many love-hate relationships in soapland but these two have a very complex one. It's never been a black or white situation. Their relationship is of intricate nature and another thing I love is how Raju and Nandu are more alike than they actually think. Both have fought with their inner demons and their respective pasts have over powered them. I guess that's why they click. They know each other in the real sense. I seriously cannot understand why this show doesn't get ratings. I know that Life OK doesn't generate numbers. But even then - why doesn't the media talked about this wonderful pairing and show? Really mind boggling and very depressing!
I know, a very long post and I'm sorry 😆 But it can't be helped! The topic was good and I love talking about RaNan!!!!
Side note: Hope I haven't deviated from actual discussion or rambled!
