Shah Rukh Khan v/s Salman Khan: The UNTOLD Cold War!

A trade industry expert reveals that Salman and Shah Rukh might publicly display affection and warmth towards each other, but when it comes to protecting their professional interests it is a completely different story

Clash at the box-office isn't new to Bollywood. It's happened multiple times in the past and it will happen again in the future. But 2016 is witnessing a different sort of a clash. Shah Rukh Khans Raees and Salman Khan's Sultan will battle it out at the ticket window this year. Both the films are aiming to capture the box office on the coveted Eid weekend. While this information is already out and a LOT has been written and debated about the fall out of this clash, not many know that behind the scenes there is a cold war brewing between these two superstars.

A trade industry expert reveals that Salman and Shah Rukh might publicly display affection and warmth towards each other, but when it comes to protecting their professional interests it is a completely different story. Our source says, "Things aren't the way like they were a few months back. Their fun and banter on the Bigg Boss special episode was genuine, but now they have a reason to hold a grouse against one another. Both their films are releasing on the same day and neither of them is ready to opt out of the race."

Sultan is backed by Yash Raj headhoncho Aditya Chopra while Raees is jointly produced by Excel Entertainment's Ritesh Sidhwani and Red Chillies. Given the fact that both the films are potential blockbusters it only makes sense that the makers want to ensure their film gets the maximum audience attention.Things got out of hand when a trade expert put out a tweet a few weeks back saying Raees was being pushed back. Sidhwani was quick to take to Twitter and point out, "Some people spreadingRumours about #Raees release being moved.. Like I said RUMOURS". Buzz is that Team Raees was extremely upset with baseless talk about their film giving Sultan a solo release on the Eid weekend. Sidhwani's tweet only confirmed the fact that he and SRK were in mood to entertain rumours surrounding their film. Also the fact that SRK has ensured that Raees is on schedule and even canned his shots in the last two weeks ahead of leaving for Gauri Shinde's film in Goa.

Sultan on the other hand has Aditya Chopra who has given his director Ali Abbas clear instructions on ensuring that his film releases on the announced date. Even though they took months to find a lead opposite Salman, sources reveal that Anushka Sharma has already shot majority of her portion before she has to leave for Karan Johar's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. A source reveals, "Salman is going all out to ensure that there is no delay from his end. He's been disciplined in terms of meeting the planned schedule and has promised Adi that Sultan will release on Eid."

While trade experts have their bets on both the films, looks like last December's history will repeat itself (Dilwale v/s Bajirao Mastani) this Eid.
