Cuz that is the mentality that is quite prevalent in the Eastern countries.. I remember watching an epi of crime petrol in which a girl is raped by her father's friend.,, when her father finds out he apologizes to the friend and requests him to keep the incident quite🤢

W*F! Why was the father apologizing to his friend for raping his daughter? 🤢 Did she go to the police?

I had seen that epi too🤢the poor kid thought she is pregnant as she did'nt have any knowledge of what was happening with her, just knew it was wrong. and when she talked about it to her best friend she revealed it to everyone and the kid was rusticated from school. She was 10 or 9 years old I gues

Highway was a movie that carried with myself for a long long time. It seared me completely.

Veera's mother loved her but had the typical Indian mentality of "log kya kahenge." She showed her love for her daughter by buying her the most expensive things their money could buy, by fixing her marriage into an equally "high status" family but failed completely as a mother & sister. She was a weak woman wrapped in her & her family's image & that is what this movie showed beautifully-- How Image, false respect & "log kya kahenge" is what binds us Indians together & cuts through all socio-economic classes & how Veera & Bir surpassed that to create an identity in which they were secure & truly independent.

The scene where Veera is angry & raving in their drawing room & turns to her mother & says "sssh! Ssshhh!!!" Chilled me.

The girl was too small to do that,as much as I remember some ngo women took the case and made her father understand and gave justce to the girl, the school was also sued for rusticating a girl without any valid reason, how could they even think a 10 yr old girl can get preganant logically

Her mother had the typical mentality of izaat pe anch aa jayegi n log kya kahaenge. Most child abuse cases are done by relatives, and the kids are advised to stay silent and avoid that relative as much as possible.A friend of mine had to go through the same in her childhood. This abusers need to rot in jail 😡
