Ranveer Singh is cut from a different cloth. Few can match his spontaneity, his effervescence, enthusiasm or penchant for springing up surprises. And he did all this and more at the Zee Cine Awards where he walked away with the Best Actor trophy for Bajirao Mastani along with Amitabh Bachchan for Piku.

Topping his victory was his live act where he performed to a medley of his hits. "I feed off the energy of the crowds. I really, really love large crowds. At award shows you do pre-record your act at times but I didn't want to perform only for the camera," he told us in a midnight chat after the show. "The people who are sitting there... As a performer, I feel I owe it to them. A live act is a chance you get only once, you can't mess up."

Ranveer seemed even more thrilled that Salman Khan, who was in the audience, seemed to have enjoyed his performance. "He was sitting in the first row and he was liking my performance. It was great to perform in front of one of my screen idols; it gave me extra motivation."

If he won everyone, including Salman, over with his performance, he charmed the audience even more with his attitude. Here are five instances from the Zee Cine Awards, held at Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai, that will make you fall in love with Ranveer more than before...

1) Unlike other stars who time their entry to collect their awards at a show and leave thereafter, Ranveer came early and stayed till the end.

2) It was heartening to see the actor hug and dance with every technician associated with Bajirao Mastani, who won an award.Bajirao Mastani won quite a few technical awards, including sound design, action, choreography etc and each time a name was announced, Ranveer got up and personally congratulated the winner. In the I-Me-Myself world of Bollywood, how many actors take care to publicly thank the men and women behind the scenes?

3) The actor has no ego when it comes to appreciating others. He went up to the stage several times to collect others' awards, to share the stage with performers, to congratulate winners and generally to have some impromptu fun. His moments with Anil Kapoor were hilarious.

4) His PDA is endearing even if it makes you blush. At various points during the show, Ranveer kissed Anil Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, his Gunday co-star Arjun Kapoor, host Karan Johar and choreographer Ganesh Acharya.

5) It was Ranveer's night but he made it very special for Deepika Padukone too. Deepika, who is currently shooting for xXx in Hollywood won an award for Piku. She wasn't present but Ranveer Face-timed her in front of the audience and chatted with her on stage, congratulating her for the win. Isn't that really sweet?
