I am so glad that Karishma got to do DTPH.. That was a role made for Karishma and in no way can I imagine Kajol executing it with such finesse.

Dil To Pagal Hai was rejected by Juhi Chawla (didn't want to play second fiddle to her arch rival), Raveena Tandon (was due to retire and marry Akshay Kumar, she lost many films during that period), Urmila Matondkar (signed up for the film, shot for 1 day but then was swapped with Karisma Kapoor), Kajol (found the role inconsequential), Aishwarya Rai (was seriously considered but declined but was promised by Yash Chopra to get his next film), Manisha Koirala (reasons unknown, maybe didn't feel comfortable with the dance aspect), Shilpa Shetty (was busy working on some South movies and missed the opportunity).

At the time, Karisma was signed for Judaai and Dillagi (which was titled "London" at the time, I remember there was a press conference with Karisma, Bobby + Sunny). I'm not sure what really happened, but Karisma claimed her secretary made a mistake with her diary and double booked dates, so she had to opt out of London + Judaai, but was able to do DTPH.

Karisma's feud with the Deols goes way back to 1990, when Dharmendra was thinking of launching Bobby with Karisma in Barsaat. But they rejected her at the 9th hour. The film was under development for many years and was finally released in 1995 with Twinkle Khanna making her debut opposite Bob. They eventually worked together in Hum To Mohabbat Karega (2000), Aashiq (2001).
