A lesson in the true meaning of greatness
Through the story of Vishwamitra and through his journey and tapasya from
ego to humility we learn the essence of greatness.
From anger to repentance
From being the aggressor to being the protector
We see the rise of Vishwamitra to Maharishi
By laying down his arms and embracing peace,
Vishwamitra learns the true meaning of strength and courage
And by bowing down at the feet of Vashishtha, he rises very high!
And in guru Vashihstha we meet a true guru and an enlightened soul
a man who is above greed, above power and even anger
A man who will not agree to wrong doing, just to preserve his position
A man who will forgive even the murderer of his sons
And man who will graciously acknowledge the greatness of his arch enemy even
This equanimity and true peace is what is nirvana, it is the most difficult to achieve
And a true tapasvi has a strength of mind and soul, that is far more than strength of body
Of course, once again Rama's simple solutions to complex issues work magic
Very often we are so embroiled in false pride, ego, prestige, that we do not see the easiest way out
Instead complicate our life. In those moments, remember the philosophy of Rama - just ask for forgiveness ...
