Sudeepa is currently working over time for Ardhangini because some episodes are being re-shot as the channel wasn't happy with the show's look. "The show has a Bengali set up and probably in some of the episodes the Bengali look and ambience didn't come through well," she clarifies. Ardhangini, according to Sudeepa, is a story of a simple and bubbly girl who is extremely beautiful. But her beauty becomes a curse for her. "Kangana's beauty becomes her major problem not only in her own family but also with her childhood love Priyam she gets married to. Of course, she is hurt but Kangana is a strong girl and she handles her problems quite confidently," adds Sudeepa. Talking further about the show, she says the USP of Ardhangini is the Bengali set up as well as Kangana's look and inner strength. "She is very beautiful as well as a very strong girl. She is lively, full of life and confidence personified. What hurts her most is that the man who she loved and married has problems with her beauty," she elaborates. Sudeepa too had to face resistence from her family when she decided to take up acting after taking part in the first edition of Zee Cinestar Ki Khoj. "I come from a very conservative family and wanted to join the Armed forces. I had taken part in Antakshiri because the competition was held in Amritsar. Since I had won the singing competition I was allowed to participate in Cinestar Ki Khoj. And because I finished third that my father agreed to my wish of taking up acting," she recalls. The small city girl who didn't even think of a career in acting is doing pretty well for herself. She has done a Punjabi film, a couple of prestigious television commercials and music videos as well. She even managed to appear for her final year degree exam during her six-month break from acting after her debut show went off air. Though she is a reasonably good singer, Sudeepa says acting is her first priority. "If the right opportunity comes my way I might also take up singing. But right now I am working hard on my acting career," she says. www.deccan.com |
