Are really you people interested in this? I liked GR too, but SPK made me hate him.

I want him in a contemporary role as definitely not CAS

If it is Gautam Rode it is doubly good for me. I have been his fan since Saraswatichandra and watched him in Mahakumbh as well, where he played the grown up Siddhart Nigam once before. He is a fine actor and will do justice to the role totally. He has a good physique too. I am not watching SPK, coz I just dont have the time. But I heard he is amazing and even got an award for it.

So if Gautam Rode is Ashoka, I am really excited. He can do the whole Shudh Hindi thing really well too. If he does this, it will be yet another epic role for him. But I am not sure when SPK is ending, so this may not work out! Lets hope they hire someone REALLY good, coz these half baked actors cannot play Ashoka, especially after the way Sid played him. To top that, you have to be a top notch actor too. So far the names being bandied about are not even close.
