Before I get into the song, I think the choice of this song for this scene was well thought out. This song was the background music for the hospital scene when Twinkle hears Kunj vocalize the depth of care for her, her respect. It was a special moment because our silent Kunj finally shared some thoughts (he explained why he did what he did, he explained how it made him feel, etc.) and with Twinkle we got to see her care for Kunj and she got to see, yet again, that her husband deeply cares for her. It was a moment of mutual acknowledgement of their relationship, their connection, their raabta (the word "raabta" is a word of Urdu origin and it means " unknown connection." The song, hence, is about the connection between two people). Personally, I LOVE the song Agar Tum Saath Ho so I was a little confused to why they did not use it but when I thought about it, it made sense. Agar Tum Saath Ho is about being there for someone, assuring them of your support. In this scene, no one needed to be comforted. It was a husband and wife finally seeing their relationship without the light of tears and desperation.
Now, moving on to the song...there are so many versions of this song. As far as I know, the version they used in the scene was the Raabta (Kehte Hai Khuda Ne) version by Arjit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal.
First verse goes as:
Kehte hain khuda ne is jahan mein sabhi ke liye
Kisi na kisi ko hai banaya har kisi ke liye
Tera milna hai us rab ka ishara maano
Mujhko banaya tere jaise hi kisi ke liye
The way I understand, this verse is saying that God makes someone for every person and the singer has found someone made just for them. From the beginning, we know Twinkle is someone religious so the fact that God is in this song makes it more important. Kunj and Twinkle are opposites in some aspects, while they both are funny and light-hearted people, Twinkle is far more impulsive. Kunj is more mature and grounds her. They balance each other out very well...even the Guruji at the Gurudwara thinks so.
Next verse:
Kuch toh hai tujhse raabta
Kuch toh hai tujhse raabta
Kaise hum jaane hume kya pata
Kuch toh hai tujhse raabta
This verse is merely saying there is an unknown connection and even the person does not know how and why they realize this. This verse is perfect because so far Kunj and Twinkle have made it apparent that they care for each other but they haven't been able to pinpoint an exact reason. For Kunj, it used to be the fact Twinkle is his wife and responsibility but things have definitely changed but he does not know exactly why. For Twinkle, she knows Kunj is the one for her but she questions why she cares so much (when she spoke to Chinki about getting jealous, when she said why her tummy flutters when he's near her, etc.). Point is they know they care deeply for each other but cannot explain why.
Next verse:
Tu humsafar hai, phir kya fikar hai
Jeene ki wajah yahi hai marna isi ke liye
Kehte hain khuda ne iss jahan mein sabhi ke liye
Kisi na kisi ko hai banaya har kisi ke liye
This one is about a person realizing that if the other person is with them, they have no worries and that is enough of a reason to live and die. This correlates strongly to when Twinkle realized the say of the well known rain scene and the Gurudwara scene the next day when Twinkle realized if Kunj is with her, she can make it through anything.
Next verse:
Meherbaani jaate jaate mujhpe kar gaya
Guzarata sa lamha ek daaman bhar gaya
Tera nazaara mila,
Roshan sitaara mila
Takdeer ke Kashtiyoon ko Kinara mila
This part switches to a male singer. So, unfortunately, we don't get much background on Kunj. I always think of him and Alisha because he did like her and she did turn out to be not nice. I always think of the failed date episode when he set things up for her yet she walked out (September 18, 20150. My heart broke for him. I think, in that moment, when Twinkle came and praised his efforts, he saw her differently hence the lines about a person obliging someone with a meherbaani or favor and how that passing moment fulfilled their wishes. Then, the next lines I think of different Twinkle is from Alisha. Twinkle is so bubbly, carefree, fun so the word images of a "roshan sitaara" works so well. And the last line could connect to how Kunj also found his life partner. We often focus so much on Yuvraj and Twinkle that we may not notice that even Kunj had an Alisha and she, like Yuvraj, was not right for him.
Last verse:
Sadiyon se tarse hai jaisi zindagi ke liye
Teri sauhbat mein duaayein hain usi ke liye
Tera milna hai us rab ka ishaara
Maano mujhko banaya tere jaise hi kisi ke liye
This switches to the female singer again. I think the first line connects to how Twinkle had such faith and love for love but Yuvraj's betrayal killed it all for her. She wanted a particular type of life but it never materialized. Yet, now she stands married to Kunj who is treating her the complete opposite of Yuvraj, almost like he's rebuilding her faith in love. So, in Kunj's saubat or company, she is praying the initial life imagined could be happen with Kunj.
Once again, this because super long and I apologize. I think my thoughts are all over the place so I'sm not sure if this is even makes sense. Those who make it to the end, let me know what you think.
