Well sonam,sonakshi,anushka,vidya,vani,shraddha are really pretty.the infamous ones amrita rao,amy Jackson,Diana penty,nargis fakhri,Ileana,yaumi are gorgeous too.

Well, I do agree with others perception of looks is subjective.

I actually don't find most of the 90s actresses stunning, like Juhi, Madhuri, Sonali, Karishma, Urmila or even yesteryear's actresses like Rekha, Hema Malini etc. I know they're supposed to be good-looking, but they just don't do anything for me. I think it's a case of also liking the look your generation comes with. I don't like the overall look those actresses had.

Kareena is also not all that, IMO. Bipasha and Rani are okay. Preity is pretty.

Nowadays, since a lot of star kids get backdoor entry thanks to their connections, the bar for looks or even an X-factor is set lower. For example, Alia is cute and has screen presence, but would that have been enough for her if she was not Mahesh Bhatt's daughter?

When the industry was not a family business, the bar for heroines was set higher- they needed to be special (X-factor), good-looking, have terrific screen presence and some talent.

Look at Athiya- she can be a model, but has none of the other prerequisites I mentioned.

Also, it also brings up the issue about whether looks are really important in the acting business, 'cause IMO, they are acting to bring us stories that appeal to us. Indian film industries are heavily biased towards good-looking women, but when they're presenting ordinary stories with supermodels who can barely act, it just looks silly.

Films are for actors and it's not necessary that they MUST be good-looking, unless the script demands it.
