I've heard from many people that English is a crazily hard language to learn. Had I not been taught it from an early age I'd agree to- it has very little rhyme and reason 😆 Random rules applying to pronunciation, spelling
I do think English is hard because you're right there are random rules and more than anything it's tough to get the pronunciation correct, and plus there are so many dialects

French and Spanish? Yes. Because they are based on Latin. So, if you speak one of em; not hard to learn the other.

yep, they belong to the family of Romance language (i.e. based on latin)

the three actually have different writing systems. Chinese utilizes thousands of characters, which like you said, is like drawing. Korean actually has an alphabet called Hangul, so writing korean is pretty much like joining alphabets. I believe they utilized chinese character up til the 19th century and have a chinese number system too, along with a korean one. Japanese has 3 different writing "alphabets." There's kanji, which are chinese characters. Then there's hiragana, which is based on syllables/sounds. pretty much each sound is represented by a character. Katakana is similar to hiragana but is mainly used for transcription of foreign language words into japanese.

chinese is probably the hardest to learn because of tones.

yep, i agree with chinese being the hardest because of the tonalities involved. same with vietnamese - tones are very important. ngoc can mean so many different things based on tonality. i can definitely pick out japanese and korean written and spoken communication - though i don't understand much of either (i get most of my gyan through k-drama, j-drama, j-pop, k-pop).

it has roman origins, but they're actually called romance langauges. from wikipedia: The Romance languages are a language family in the Indo-European languages. They started from Vulgar Latin. The biggest Romance languages are Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, and Romanian. They are called "romance languages" because they originate from a language spoken by Romans.

Chinese, I heard, is the most difficult language to learn. Also ppl say south indian languages are hard to learn. Since i am a south indian, I can understand why they say so. I learnt french years ago. I found it pretty easy back then though I have forgotten almost all of it now😆 I am learning German and it is pretty good so far. But it is very difficult to understand when the native speakers speak. It always feels like they are swearing at each other 😆😆
I think the difficulty level of learning a language is based on one's interest and the languages they already know.
