Patriotism ki log sirf baat karte hai: Akshay Kumar

Akshay Kumar opens up about why people just speak about patriotism and do nothing for it. He also gave a strong reason why we should replace Akbar and Shah Jahan in textbooks.

Akshay Kumar starrer 'Airlift' is soaring on a high note across all the theaters. The movie that's based on the real life story of a massive evacuation of Indians during the Iraq-Kuwait war in 1990 has been applauded by everyone.

At a recent interaction Akshay was asked that whenever he has tried to do something like OMG, Special 27 or BABY, it has really worked well at the Box Office in its own manner. Since BABY reached 90 Crore so is there any expectation with Airlift crossing that mark?

Here's what he said, "That's what it is! These cinemas woh 90 tak hi reh jaate hai because what happens is, patriotism ki log sirf baat karte ha but there should be people who spend their money and go watch it also.

Adding further he said, "People want to watch commercial cinemas, fights, comedy, gaadiyan udd rahi hai, etc. But, I'm still trying. I am not going to give up just because the number comes only till 90 crore. I still say its a hit film that I would like the people to come and watch it."

"At the end of the day these were the people because of them so many survived. Hats off to these Air India Pilots who went inside the war zone and got those people alive. They didn't need to do it. Those people who were struck there were not their uncles. But, they went inside because they felt that it was their duty to do it and it was actually not their duty also, they were commercial pilots."

"But, I must also say the business of these films is improving day by day. Now a days we talk about intolerance and tolerance in India. So People are aware."

"I read it in social media that the youth are talking about India and they are proud to be Indians. So I think they should watch this film."

He further gave out a strong message as to why he wants this film to be in the History textbooks.

"I want this story to come in our History textbooks. What are we going to do by knowing what Akbar did? Okay fine he did! What Shah Jahan did? Okay its really good. He made Taj Mahal. Fantastic. We love it."

"But, what did we do? 20 years back the people who were there, they were the real heroes. We want to know that also!"

'Airlift' which also stars Nimrat Kaur in a pivotal role, released across all the theater on 22nd January, 2016.

Totally agree with it.
The people (not all but most) who like to storm in a tea cup when any of the Khans give any controversial or stupid statement doesn't go to watch a not-so-masala movie about patriotism as audience

You are also speaking about patriotism because of Airlift. When your next film releases, you will forget. Why blame audience? Yes we go for entertainment, not for preachy patriotism. We are not ashamed of it. End of the day, it's our money.
But I would like to add, I watched and enjoyed Airlift. Not because, it was patriotic. It was a well made movie which engaged me throughout.

Off late, you have been delivering good films. 👍🏼
But don't force audiences to come for the movie because it belongs to 'patriotic genre'. Whatever be the genre, if the movie is good people will watch. If it is not made good, they will reject a masala movie too.
