Hi friends

This is from today's Hindutan Times. Do read its worth the while.

Now for the points to ponder upon:

>Is it a hyperbolic reaction to the situation, things can change a lot till we reach 2050? Do we need to act now?

>Does it call for sex education to children? If yes, how does it help the skewed up sex-ratio?

> Do you think that banning pre-natal diagnostic technology prevent female foeticide or does it require a social intervention and opposing gender bias?

> What is the best way to address the issue since so many Govt policies havent yielded desirable results?

No government policy will work until the mindset changes. For the mindset to change, I would have said education is the best tool, but then I have seen educated people not wanting girls 🤢

I don't think that a lack of brides will make it better for the women. Look at the fallout in the article - trafficking of women, and rise in sexual violence. Maybe, I am being overly pessimistic but it looks bleak either ways for women.

@ Swar - the guys might give a better dowry, but will they treat the women any better??

Given the way the cultures are desemminating... Many of the guys will be looking for a groom... 😆 😆

Ok jokes aside... this is pathetic that girl child is discriminated against... But unfortunately no policies can change this mind-set its just more mature thinking that will have to do it for them.......

High time people starting celebrating the birth of girl child...when a girl is born not only her family but the whole mohalla as in parents of all prospective grooms should celebrate!😃

It is ironic that parents who prefer male child only for lineage will be facing shortage of brides to carry forward their lineage..😕 So as Tally said , everyone better celebrate birth of a girl child to carry forward their lineage .😊

I think mindsets are changing and people realise worth of girl child to the family especially in old age as a daughter probably will take care of old parents and family more often then boys do as they themselves are busy taking care of their wives parents.😉 I don't know what else can change the mindsets, our religion worships female goddesses, when a girl is born people pacify themselves by saying Laxmi is born in their family etc.

SJB, they will have to or else they will be with out a wife😆

Those who are sick mind, they will never change. But new generation is coming up with respect to each other. i cannot live with my partner if he disrespects and vice versa. It is upto women also to make sure, he is not abused.

Yes thats right, its all about the social outlook towards a girl child and later a woman. But no one is really taking concrete steps in the direction. Yeah dowry cases filed by men😆

The pre natal diagnostics is already banned but there are rampant clinics doing it illegally
