"I faced poverty, but I made sure she didn't lack anything. I got her everything before she wished for them"
It is heartbreaking to hear this because Abhi didn't have parents either, he was only a couple of years older than Aaliyah. Parents do their best for their children but a brother doing it for his sister when the parents didn't exist is something else. As we see in some flash back scenes, Abhi made sure Aaliyah didn't lack anything anywhere.
Aaliyah herself acknowledges that Abhi was a caring brother but she doesn't recognize what it took him to be that. She perhaps only saw the gifts and luxuries he gave her not the sweat and pain he had to go through to achieve it for her.
Abhi growing into a rockstar doesn't seem just like his drive for music or talent. It's beyond that. He felt the need to be rich and powerful to make his family happy, to make his people not suffer with the lack of anything.
Like any parent or a brother, Abhi wanted his sister to find happiness with a good man. He found his trusted friend Purab as a suitable match for Aaliyah. He proposed that they could get together and they agreed. Abhi was a happy man and got them engaged. It was then Purab and Aaliyah's responsibility to deal with that relationship. Purab faltered and betrayed both Aaliyah and Abhi although his intentions weren't malicious. Aaliyah misunderstood the girl and the intention Purab was involved with, and Abhi ended up marrying "that" girl under misinformation to teach her a lesson.
Very unlucky for Abhi that the girl turned out to be opposite of what he believed her to be. In fact she was not even "that" girl. If the girl was truly a gold digger like Tannu currently is, Abhi would have done just fine with it. He would have gotten rid of that girl proving her to be wrong. But then Abhi has a kind heart and he has an ability to see right and wrong. So he ends up siding that girl, Pragya, slowly and steadily. He gets tied in social bonds first and emotional bonds later.
What Aaliyah does not realize is that Abhi let go of his happy go lucky life and his girlfriend to marry Pragya. She fails to acknowledge Pragya and Bulbul as good people unlike Abhi. She does not want to blame her "love" Purab for anything, but puts all the blames on Bulbul and Pragya. She turns vicious on them. So vicious that she acts without a conscience.
Abhi who initially supported Aaliyah turns against her slowly. He realizes Purab is not in love with Aaliyah and also that Pragya and Bulbul are not traitors. Aaliyah although learns things before him refuses to put him in light. But Abhi tries to talk her out of Purab's obsession several times trying to tell her she can find better. But Aaliyah does not truly give up although she pretends to. Abhi tries to take a drastic step by getting Purab married to Bulbul so that Aaliyah gets over him. But Aaliyah ultimately ends up targeting Abhi as the root cause of all her issues, again in her delusional belief that Purab could still be hers.
And that's where it all falls apart. Abhi is miffed with Aaliyah after she attempts Bulbul's murder and she starts to blindly hate him. He is waiting for chances to forgive her and hoping things get back to better but she is scheming to shatter it. She finally finds her chance to "destroy" him by acquiring all his property when she finds the chance. She openly declares her hate to him trying to get him be a slave to her. She is happy that she looted him but what she does not realize is she had the power to break him. She actually breaks him apart.
No wonder Abhi feels so low. He feels no motivation to work, he feels like he lost trust in everyone. Sad that Pragya chose to "betray" him too for his own good and it only makes him feel worse about everything. But then, he is lucky since Pragya is there for him to vent out. And ultimately Pragya is going to be with him in this and not truly against.
However Pragya "exposing" Aaliyah's viciousness successfully breaks Abhi's heart but it is not going to do any good to the already shattered brother-sister relationship. Too bad that Daadi is a part of this too and Aaliyah will hate them one and all further more. She truly deserves punishment for she is criminal to say the least. But most of her crimes have gone ignored and she will only come back to destroy Abhi and his remaining family further. This is why I wish Daadi and Pragya found ways to mend Aaliyah than trying to get her to do more crimes in order to expose her truth to Abhi. Alas! It's too late for that now.
However, if anyone loves Aaliyah, it's still Abhi. I still have hopes that one day Aaliyah will be so helpless and distraught that she will feel it. She will realize her brother's efforts and emotions behind the gifts and luxuries she received from him. And may be that day she will become his sister again. And Abhi will keep finding excuses to be her brother again until then.
