Kartik Aaryan replaces Imran Khan in Aanand Rai's next production

The Pyaar Ka Punchnama actor will be seen next in a romcom revolving around a wedding.

Pyaar Ka Punchnama's monologue boy, Kartik Aaryan, is delighted to have finally entered the big league after a six-year struggle.

The 27-year-old-actor has replaced Imran Khan after the debacle of his last film, Katti Batti, in Aanand L Rai's yet-to-be-titled production, a Hindi remake of RS Prasanna's Tamil hit, Kalyana Samayal Saadham.

"Kartik's comic timing makes him the right choice for the romcom. Aanand Rai enjoyed both Pyaar Ka Punchnama and its sequel. He thinks Kartik is an extremely likeable face. The original director, Prasanna will make his Bollywood debut with this one," a source close to the production informed Mirror.

With Shruti Haasan as the leading lady, the story follows two IT professionals who get engaged after an arranged match. The subsequent prep for the big fat Indian wedding leads to a comedy of errors. The South film featured Prasanna Venkatesan and Lekha Washington in the lead and received rave reviews. "It was lauded for the director's deft handling of a taboo subject, erectile dysfunction. It starts out as a romantic fantasy but switches gears to become an irreverent comedy," the source adds.
