@Jaya what a beautiful post. Would say loved to the core. I always say you bring the practicality beautifully in all your posts and this one is one among the best.
Janak is going to look at Ram when he decides the alliance, Ayodhya becomes secondary. While Ayodhya is looking at Mithila, Janak everything but not Janaki the one who will be coming to their family. Priorities are different for Ayodhya.
I don't know whether you have read my post during one of the earlier episodes of SKR. I have found Ayodhya a beautiful picture without the soul.
It's grandeour is an illusion, the smile is artificial, all have their own selfishness and their own grievances.
The only lady who is genuinely warm in that whole palace is Sumitra. Only she has a calm mind.

@ Shruthi, at times it is not wise to just see the qualities of the groom and accept the alliance fro your daughter but had to look in to the family in which she will have to live her entire life. Even if the husband is a gem, if the in laws are not tolerant people, and the DIL is not their choice, it will become a living hell for the girl. Either she will have to be rebellious and walk out or she will have to face every pain in silence as no son appreciate his wife talking ill about his parents as everything will happen behind his back and they will show enough love to him and his wife outwardly.
That is one reason why the parents used to look for the family background and about the parents and family members before even taking any proposal of alliance. So that their daughter doesn't face any problems in her life. there is nice proverb in Kannada "Kula Nodi hennu kodu, Nela nodi Bavi todu" Means , check about the family background before finalizing your daughter's marraige, and test the soil for its water resource before digging a well, so that none of your efforts go in vein.

@jaya I understand. I never meant the family should not be looked into. Yes it will be looked for the rightful reasons you said. I only meant first the groom will be checked then the family. I mean even if the family is great, is there any point in having a useless husband.
Reverse is also bad, but for me having a useless husband is worse.
Ram has an individuality and then he comes from an illustrious lineage. So both match. So Ayodhya should have done some back ground check on Janaki and then looked other aspects is my only take.

@ Shruthi, Yes I completely agree with you that the boy has to be a complete match to the girl before even considering to look at the family he belongs. He should be wise (not just with education) strong (not just the physic), humble (not to succumb) brave ( not dare) and the one who respect the woman for what she is.
Yes we know Ram has an individuality and with that he can ensure no one talks or does bad to his wife but at the same time Sita has a quality to make every one love her for what she is. But still will that quality of her humbleness, bravery, mercy, down to earth nature will be sufficient fro her MIL Kaikeyi to be happy with her? Or will her Origin values more to her? Even if that is not sufficient, will she make it obvious openly or taunt Sita indirectly? Or will she make use of her this qualities to make Sita her confident and ensure the pawns fall according to her wish (like in case of Ram's exile, Sita offered to go with her husband or preferred to be with him and not at palace. Was it Kaikeyi's influence on Sita to stay close to your husband (its a wife's duty to follow her husband in his thick and thin moments) or her indirect torture which made her decide so?

@jaya you have raised very valid questions and one thing I like about SKR is that they are addressing relations, its complexities in a very beautiful manner and to a great extend without mollycoddling. Certain dialogues are very bold compared to other serials, because in many shows the emotional conflicts, the real reasons will be glossed over than looked into. And this glossing over many a times makes a rational viewer not connect with the story.
See if you look at Sita's perspective her only real relation is her husband and the relations that happen through him. Because at every point people can question on whether she is Janak's daughter( I am just putting this point from a society perspective), but no one can question on the fact whether she is Ram's wife. And this can be one of the strongest reasons for her to accompany Ram to forest and this can also be one of the strongest reasons for her to vent out her anger at Lakshman for not going to save Ram. Because her world revolved round Ram, because that was her only truth.
