Tears fell from her eyes and wrapped her arms tightly around him.
"Khushi bitiya, chote!"
Arnav and Khushi both looked at their parents as they showed up at the hospital.
"Khushi, what happened dear?" Mrs. Raizada asked with a worried look on her face.
"Mom, she is fine, but..."
"But what?" Mr. Raizada questioned.
"Mom, dad, Khushi was saved by Shyam jiju..."
"Shyam?"
They both looked each other. It took them some time to register Shyam's name.
"Yes, he is in the ICU, with some head injury. But doctors are expecting him to get well soon..."
"Oh, God, that's why Anjali bitiya was having all these bad feelings..."
"Mom, we will wait for a while, let the situation get little better then we will let Anjali Di know about this accident," Arnav said.
"Hmm...I think that will be better. Khushi, you are fine, right?..."
"Yes, mummy ji!" she said but she was already intimidated by what will happen next.
"Yes, mom, she is. Doctor said we can take her home..."
"Okay, you guys go home, we both stay here in the hospital."
"You guys will be okay with it, right?" he asked.
"Yes... You go home and take care of Khushi!" his mom said as she caressed Khushi's hair lightly.
"And Khushi, bitiya, don't worry about here," Mr. Raizada said. "Everything will be okay!" he added, seeing how scared she was.

"Khushi, just try to sleep," Arnav said, and pulled blanket on top of her. "I will be back soon."
"Arnav, please don't go..."
Hearing a fear in her tone broke something inside him. Without thinking twice he got up on the bed and laid beside her.
"I am here!"
He gave her a kiss on her forehead. "Arnav, Shyam jiju will be okay, right?" she asked uncertainly.
He held her hand in his. "Of course, he will!" he sounded obvious. "Now stop worrying and close your eyes..."
She closed her eyes and Arnav wished with her sleep her worries goes away too.

"I really hope Shyam gets better!" Mrs. Raizada said.
"Hmm..." Mr. Raizada muttered.
"Mrs. Raizada, also I forgot to mention earlier we have one opening for an assistant manager...Our another assistant manager has asked for a transfer to other place."
"Okay!" she exclaimed, but she wondered why he was talking about business now. "So have you posted it on our website already?"
"Uh...Not yet because I was considering Khushi bitiya for this position..."
Mrs. Raizada smiled ear to ear, she even forgot her worries for a while. She left whatever she was doing and sat on the bed facing him, still smile was as vibrant as it started on with. "Mr. Raizada, have you talked to children about it?"
"Not about this opening. I know Khushi bitiya wants to finish her graduation first, and I have given her time, but since we need one, I guess Khushi bitiya will be suitable and will also have an experience side by side. But more importantly, I want her to get little busy. There is so much going on in her life emotionally that it's hard for her to cope up. I know chote is doing his best to keep her happy, however, work is the one factor that I want to add in her life."
Mrs. Raizada kept her hand on his. "Mr. Raizada, if you have taken a decision, I am pretty sure it will be 100% right. Go for it and I totally agree with you that Khushi bitiya needs some distraction."
"Thank you for your support."
She smiled; "that's what life partners are for."

"How can you all hide this from me?" Anjali shouted complain.
"Di, relax!" Arnav tried a mere try to calm her, but she was disheartened to hear about Shyam.
"Don't tell me to relax, chote. I know me and Shyam are divorced but it doesn't mean we don't care about each other...And you guys thought it will be better for you guys to hide about his accident."
"Di, we didn't want you to stress out. And it's not that we were hiding it from you. We were just going to tell you everything when situation was little better..."
"I do not care," she snapped. "And I do not think you were thinking of me, but saving your wife, because of whom it all happened."
Khushi clenched the blanket in her hand tightly as exactly the same was happening as she had thought.
"Di, stop making your own assumptions for no reason..."
"Why? Now your wife is more important than me?"
Tears flowed down Khushi's fearful eyes. She was seeing situation getting out of control.
"We always ignored the problems you and your wife created for us...But now this one is serious. Shouldn't she have shown some carefulness when crossing road? I tell you Shyam is in this condition because of her and she is to be blamed...Now you have to choose between me and her..."
"No...No...Di, please don't say so...I...I didn't do anything on purpose. Please forgive me!" Khushi pleaded. "No, please!"
"Khushi!" Arnav said in a calm composed voice to wake her up from her bad dream. "Open your eyes, Khushi. You are dreaming..." he said. She opened her eyes. When she realised it was just a dream she took a sigh of relief.
"Arnav," she cried.
"Everything is alright, Khushi..." he muttered softly, embracing her in his arms. "I am here. Nothing is wrong."
"Arnav, Di...di will hate me..."
"Sshh...Khushi...Stop thinking negative...Relax. Di will never hate you."
"She will, Arnav."
He pulled her in his arms firmly but soft at the same time. He realised more he was trying to fix the situation with her, more tangled and vulnerable it was becoming, he had to himself tell Anjali everything in the morning, so that this fear gets out of her mind.
He kept on caressing her hair until she had fallen asleep again.

"Anjali, Di!"
Anjali turned around and saw Arnav and her mother. "Hey, chote, hi, mom. Good morning. What's up? You guys here?"
Arnav and his mother looked at each other. His mother gave him an assuring look and walked towards her daughter. "Anjali, bitiya. Come and sit here."
Anjali knew something was serious, she already had this weird negative feeling in her heart that was unsettling her since last few days.
She sat and so did Mrs. Raizada. "What's it, mom? Is everything okay?"
Mrs. Raizada thought of what she was going to tell her and how she was going to tell her. "Dear, yesterday Khushi bitiya and S...Sh...Shyam son, met with an accident..."
"What?"
Her eyes were wide opened in fear. "How is Khushi? And Shyam?"
"Khushi bitiya is fine, but Shyam has gotten little head injuries..."
Anjali's heart skipped a beat in fear...
"But di, he is expected to be okay in just few days..." Arnav immediately added.
"Oh god..." she moaned. "How did this happen?"
Arnav sat on his knees and told her everything that had happened. "Di, Khushi is in her room, sleeping. Luckily she was saved."
"God, how come I didn't realise something was wrong. Can I first see Khushi? And after that Chote, I want to go to see Shyam...You will take me to the hospital, right?"
"Yes, Di...Of course I will..." he said. He was relieved that she hadn't reacted in a bad way, especially as Khushi thought. He was glad he had talked to Anjali about the situation.
"I just don't understand why you guys didn't tell me about this last night. I am not this weak that I couldn't have handled this news," Anjali complained.
"We are really sorry, dear," Mrs. Raizada said. Even she was glad that Anjali took this news maturely.
"Mom, I go and take Anjali Di to the hospital, please take care of Khushi...And today she can skip classes. I guess more than a distraction she needs rest."
"Don't you worry, dear. I will take care of her. You take Anjali bitiya, and just inform us how is Shyam...Though your father had already left to the hospital..."
"Yes, dad told me before he left."
"Chote, I will be back in a minute," Anjali said and went to change.
Mrs. Raizada and Arnav left a sigh of relief. "I am so glad it wasn't that bad than we thought..."
Arnav agreed. More than anything he was happy that his Khushi will not feel burden that she was responsible for this accident.
