Chapter 10
"f**k!" Zoya turned around instantly realising where her mind had wondered off. She bit her bottom lip before wincing tasting her own blood. She just dreamt of getting intimate with Asad. How is that even possible? How on earth did she allow herself to go that far? She knew the risks of working with Asad, but a part of her felt comfortable with his presence. But, she couldn't forget that even the kingdom she had come to claim, is his. He wasn't the enemy but he wasn't on her side. And that made all the difference.
"Zoya-" Asad said softly, Zoya stepped forward towards the makeshift door. He couldn't have read her eyes wrong, they reflected his, they were filled with pure longing and desire. Seeing her soaked in the overalls, her white top sticking against her like second skin. She was practically naked to his eyes. He couldn't stop the emotions building up inside of him. He couldn't deny, he wanted this girl with every fibre of his being. If only she would stop pushing him away.
"Let's go Mr Khan, we need to get out of here" Her voice came out in a whisper, but they were fierce.
"It's still raining outside." He tried to hold her back.
"I don't care; I need to get out of here!" She pulled the hay door to one side and stepped outside. She stiffened feeling his arms over her shoulders, she looked to her side to find his shirt wrapped around her. She closed her eyes momentarily, trying to steady her breathing. Why did a part of her want to hug him and then that same part wanted to kick his ass? These feelings are becoming unbearable. She didn't feel anything for him. Right. Yeah.
"Let's go" He placed his hand on the small of her back, Zoya flinched at his touch. Her body burst into flames, her breathing went uneven. What the actual heck. She turned slightly trying to push his arm away, but as the tip of her shoulder brushed his chest and her eyes met his, she felt a jolt of electricity shoot through her spine. Those hazel eyes, so captivating, so soul searching. It's as if he could see right through every layer of her barriers shielding the world out. Every barrier sent out warnings to him to stay the hell away from her, warning him of the danger if he came close to her. But she could see him fighting to get inside of her. And suddenly, her shaky hands were not strong enough to push his muscular ones away as he guided her through the jungle.

Zoya counted to ten in her head over and over again to try and bring back control in her life. Everything was falling apart before she even started. This is not how things were supposed to go. This was not a part of her plan. Her hands fisted beside her as she fought to keep herself from punching his car. They stopped in front of the white mansion and he turned the engine off. His eyes went over her fisted hands and wondered what the hell this girl was going to do now. She was unpredictable. This girl was beyond the cat and mouse game that he thought they were playing. There is so much buried within her, he wanted to free her of whatever it is that has her captive. He wanted this girl to be free. Seeing her breakdown in front of the Orphanage, he was starting to wonder whether there was more to her visit to India. She had mentioned that she wanted a fresh start. All of a sudden, he had this sudden urge to know her more and familiarise himself with every bit of her. Including her past, her childhood. He wanted every part of her.
"Can you arrange for a driver and new phone for me Mr Khan" She broke the silence, Asad's eyes lifted from her fists to the side of her face. She wasn't looking in his direction.
"I"
"Your father said you will be able to help." She turned to face him, her eyes held no emotions. They were blank.
"Sure thing." Asad smiled, Zoya stepped out of the car. "Miss Farooqui, listen to me..." He followed her out of the car. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm great. Can't you see" She rolled her eyes limping towards the mansion.
"Should I call a doctor?"
"I shall be fine. Like always. Fine." They both froze entering the house. Their family turned their gazes onto them both, everyone reacting in their own ways seeing the state of them. Zoya's eyes narrowed staring at the man sitting in the middle of the settee, like he was royalty. His posture was stiff, his murderous eyes covered by glasses aimed at her. Zoya's back straightened instantly, she held his stare as their judgmental eyes ran over her body.
"I'm just going to get changed" She mumbled before heading for the stairs, their penetrating gazes were burning her back. She did not care what they thought or what they were thinking. She could feel his body behind her as she tried to focus on her bedroom door, the distance was killing her. She wanted to be in that room and locked away from these people. She squealed feeling his warm body press behind her before lifting her into his arms, the whole world turned upside down before her eyes landed on his grinning face as he walked towards her bedroom. He pushed the doors open with his back before spinning into her room and putting her down. Zoya drew a breath trying to put her words together before firing away at him.
"You're welcome" He smiled placing his phone on her bed before walking out of the room and closing the door behind him. Zoya grunted loudly, her body shivering with all sorts of emotions while she let the rage within her build slowly. She stumbled back a few steps resting her back against the wall before turning around and hitting her forehead a few times.
"Why are you torturing yourself? There is nothing wrong with crying you crazy crazy girl."
"Zoe, there is nothing wrong with expressing yourself."
"Simpleton" Zoya sighed fisting her hand and tapping the wall a few times. She steadied her breathing before walking towards the drawers and removing the eye cream that her sister had given her. "You are so sad Zoya." She said bitterly staring at her reflection, the swelling around her eyes were lessening. She was allergic to the eye cream and applied it when she wanted to stop herself from crying but it obviously didn't work. She threw the small tub away. She strolled into the bathroom and freshened up before walking out dressed in an oversized white t-shirt. She wrapped the towel securely over her head, grabbing the phone from the bed; she walked out into the balcony and curled up on the chair. She took a few deep breaths before dialling Mark's number.
"Asad?" She heard Mark's confused voice.
"It's me Zoya."
"Zoee, are you okay?" His voice screeched on the other side.
"Calm down Mark, I'm fine. Sorry, I dropped my phone and the connection was pretty bad. Is everything okay?" Zoya asked him. She heard him fight on the other side for the phone.
"Zoe, babe. Are you okay. I was so worried." Aileen cried.
"I'm fine girl. Don't worry. I dropped my phone. How are you? Stop crying, it aint good for you." She heard her take a few deep breaths.
"I have been worried for you. Why do you always do this to me? I nearly had a heart attack. I think the babies are having anxiety attacks too."
"Oh drama queen. I'm good. Sorry. How are my nieces/nephews doing in the incubator?" She heard Aileen laugh and Mark grumble. He hated her referring to his wife as an incubator.
"The incubator and the babies are doing great" Aileen rubbed her belly. "Zoya, babe. We need to talk to you." Her voice went serious; Aileen's tears were threatening to overflow again.
"What's up incubator?"
"Humeira..." Zoya stiffened,
"What's wrong with Simpleton?" She snapped. She heard Aileen sniff before passing the phone to Mark.
"She needs you Zoe. Humeira had an attack; this is the first reaction we have had from her in 6 months. She needs to be with you." Mark explained.
"Are you both at the hospital?" Zoya remained calm but her voice wavered.
"Yeah" Mark breathed out.
"Take the phone to her. And put it on loud speaker." Zoya directed him. Mark put the phone on loud speaker and placed it beside Humeira. His hand went over her forehead as he met her still eyes. Aileen's lips quivered, Mark shook his head in a no before wrapping his arms around her.
"Simpleton. How are you doing? I miss you, so very much. I'm sorry I had to leave you behind, just give me a few more days and you will be by my side. I know you wanted to see this house and you must be jealous that I got to see it before you. But don't worry, I will cleanse it before you come anywhere near it." Zoya paused staring into the distant, "I can hear their voices, I can hear them Simpleton." She wiped the lone tear escaping her eyes. "I really need you. But what is this I'm hearing. You had an attack?" She pressed her lips together, "I cried you know, just in case you're wondering what I am doing. You must be happy right?" Mark laughed, Aileen hit him. "Take your medications and heal. I want you back with me. Please, promise me you will do that. I really love you. More than you'll ever know. Take care, all three of you. I love you guys too."
"Zoya, take care of yourself babygirl. We love you" Aileen spoke softly. Zoya ended the call and clutched the phone against her chest tightly.
"Where are my two favourite girls?"
Zoya's head shot back towards her room. Her forehead creased in confusion. She got out of her seat and cautiously stepped inside the room through the sliding doors. She jumped watching this man run into the room holding balloons and gift bags. A small smile crept on her lips. She heard giggles coming from the other side of the princess beds. Her eyes scanned the brightly lit room, fit for two princesses. She stretched forward to have a look at the owners of the giggles. She placed her finger over her lips as the man did the same winking at her,
"My favourite girls. Where are they?"
"Abbu!!!!!!!!" Both of the girls jumped out of their hiding spot and ran towards him. He dropped the gifts he was holding to pick up the two girls into his arms.
"There they are. I love you girls. Abbu missed you both like crazy!" He shook side to side with them before looking up to meet her eyes. Zoya's eyes blurred, she blinked and then they disappeared. She spun around to find the room empty.
"Abbu?" The child in her called out to her father. "Abbu?" She collapsed onto the floor in desperation.
"Miss Farooqui?" Asad knocked on her door lightly. "Miss Farooqui?" He called again but he received no response. He pushed the doors and they opened. Great, she didn't think to lock the door before sleeping. He froze finding the sight before him. Zoya was curled up on the floor, sleeping peacefully. She wore an oversized white t-shirt and her legs were bare. The doors to the balcony were open; he could hear the howling of the strong wind outside.
"This girl is crazy" He muttered closing the door behind him before walking over towards her sleeping figure. He scooped her up into his arms and admired her face. She was absolutely beautiful. He pressed a kiss to her forehead in a loving gesture that he couldn't hold back. Zoya stirred in her sleep before relaxing into his arms, her hands clutched onto his shirt and pulled herself closer to his warmth. He placed her on the bed and pulled the duvet over her. She hummed in her sleep holding the duvet tightly against her chest. He tucked strands of her hair behind her ears before kneeling on the floor to pick up her paper work. He gathered all of it in his hands before walking over to her drawers to place them inside. His eyes caught a few words on the documents; he stilled and stared at the papers in his hand.
"Medical equipment?" He questioned glancing at Zoya, he quickly went over all of the papers in his hands before placing them into the drawer. He grabbed his phone from the floor and slipped it into his pocket. "Goodnight, my crazy tornado" Asad kissed her forehead again, not being able to help himself. He stopped and glanced over his shoulder, "My tornado?" He questioned realising what he had uttered before.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Zoya swept her hair up into a pony tail and sighed. Grabbing her gym bottle, she skipped down the stairs; her eyes fell on Razia in the kitchen. She scanned the whole house before joining her in the kitchen.
"Good morning" Zoya spoke cheerfully grabbing an apple from the fruit bowl. Razia eyed her hands.
"Haan haan, Good maaarning" Razia waved her off, feigning her presence in the kitchen. Zoya rolled her eyes washing her gym bottle out in the sink before walking over to the refrigerator and filling her bottle from the large filtered bottle of water. Zoya started whistling to her favourite song shaking her pony tail knowing Razia was glaring at her and her running clothes that hugged her every curve. She watched her from the corner of her eyes as she poured tea into a cup before picking up the fancy tray and heading for the stairs. Zoya smirked following behind her before stopping at the front door.
"No shame" Razia muttered under her breath.
"Excuse me?" Zoya turned around.
"Cuse cuse" Razia made a face, Zoya tried to keep a straight face. She turned around and headed out of the doors grinning hearing Razia scream for dear life and the tray from her hand smashed to the ground with clang before her body tumbled down each stair. She placed her headphones into her ears and broke into a jog taking a sip from her gym bottle. She found Ayaan in the distant, sat on a bench staring in one direction. She came to a halt beside him.
"You need to move on." Zoya said softly before jogging on not waiting to look at him or hear his response.
"Miss Farooqui!" Asad shouted behind her, Zoya pretended she couldn't hear him over her music. Dang, he had a powerful voice.
"Stop trying to ignore me" He pulled her headphones out, she grunted loudly.
"WHAT?" She snapped at him.
"Do you want to join me for a jog?" His lip twitched watching her nose flare.
"What am I doing now?" She questioned, her voice overflowing with sarcasm. "And why would I want to go on one with YOU??"
"Ouch" Asad's hand went over his chest in mock hurt. "You're less mean when you're out of it, you know that?" Zoya rolled her eyes.
"You aren't going to go away are you?" She looked up at him with squinted eyes, his tank top fitted against his body, outlining his abs and rock hard body teasing her from underneath the light material. He showed off his ripped muscles, his black short hung low on his hips.
"Let me show you around my city Miss Farooqui" He broke into a jog, Zoya eyed his sexy ass. She looked up into the sky cursing his hot body and then followed behind him. She glanced over her shoulder at the white mansion and smirked.
