TV actor
"TV is more challenging because you appear on it everyday you are giving something new to the audience. Where as maximum you do two films a year."
Vibu > Would you agree doing steamy scenes on-screen?
Ali Asgar> If the character demands it and it depends upon the makers.
Jigs > Do you think TV had resurrected the careers of actors like yourself? You were only doing bit roles in films earlier?
Ali Asgar> Yup definitely.Films is altogether a very different ball game, there is a lot at stake. In films you have to be lucky to get good character based roles.
Riya > Do you come from an acting background? Tell us a bit about yourself and your interests.
Ali Asgar> No I don't come from an acting background we are into restaurants. It was a chance which I got though Rajiv Mehra (Eagle Films) in a serial called Ek Do Teen Char. In school I was very active in extra curricular activities. I am from Mumbai and did my college from Wilson (Mumbai ) I have done a catering course from the Institute of Hotel Management at Dadat (Mumbai). As far as my interests go I love nature, traveling, sports and horses.
Sameer > Please tell me a little about your upcoming projects.
Ali Asgar> Right now it's the same Kaahani and a new serial called Kavyanjali. There is a film called Do Aur Do Paanch starring Salman Khan, Arbaaz etc. Also there is a Marathi film which has just been released called Navra Majha Navsaarcha directed by Sachin Thilgaonkar.
Anjali > Hi I am a big fan of yours. Tell me about your favourite color, the type of cuisine that you like and your favourite actor.
Ali Asgar> Color- black, cuisine - Indian and moms hath ka khaana ,favourite actor -Sanjeev Kumar.
Uma> Hi since you come form a restaurant background and you have done hotel management , so how come you decided to leave all that and enter the acting world?
Ali Asgar> I was supposed to go abroad and join a hotel in the food and beverage department but the contract stated that I had to be there for ten years and being the only child in the family I wasn't allowed to go and the hotel industry does not pay you that well in Mumbai either so the next best option I had was acting.
Smarty > How has life changed for you after becoming famous?
Ali Asgar> Infact I feel more responsible now because I am being watched for all my activities and it gives me a great high ...
Vikrant > Do you find a great difference between acting in cinema and (doing the same on) television?
Ali Asgar> Infact TV is more challenging because you appear on TV everyday and you have to give something new to the audience. Where as max to max you do two films a year.
Ritu> Hi Ali how are you? Have you signed up any movie or have you decided to just stick to TV?
Ali Asgar> Hi right now it's just TV because its too time consuming plus nothing exciting has come across and I don't want to do crossover films as I don't find them entertaining at all.
Gaurav> Are you only doing 'Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii' presently?
Ali Asgar> No I am doing Kavyanjali also.
Sidharth> Ok let's rewind. Trace your evolution as an actor?
Ali Asgar> In school I used to take part in extra curricular activities I was a big hit during Christmas as I was always Santa and I never really thought that I will be what am I today but as people say what has to happen will happen. Rajiv Mehra (eagle films) spotted me and I got Ek Do Teen Chaar my first serial and that's how I started.
Yuri> So was 'Ek Do Teen Chaar' the bug that induced the acting itch in you?
Ali Asgar> Yup it was the bug that induced me .
Feras> What attracted you the most to the character in 'Kahaani'
Ali Asgar> It's simplicity and it's a very honest character and a character where I don't have to perform it just comes naturally.
Himani> How much do you identify with this role?
Ali Asgar> Ya it is 90 percent me and 10 percent not me because I really wouldn't have tolerated Pallavi so much.
Sachin> How involved are you with your clothes and your look in your serials? If you don't like a certain look can you reject it?
Ali Asgar> At times we have no option we have to wear what we get because of the time factor, otherwise I am quite particular about what I wear.
Khurram> Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?
Ali Asgar> I might venture into direction.
Gayatri> Have you refused a role ever and then repented on doing so?
Ali Asgar> Ya, but I didn't refuse it. It was because of the time factor that I couldn't do it. It was for the movie Hungama.
Insiaar> Who are the TV actors you idolize or are inspirational to you?
Ali Asgar> One is Kiran Karnakar (Om) in Kahani and another actor called Ninad Kamth from my own serial Parvato (Sakshi Tanwar).
Kiran> Do you feel that with the same type of serials related to family scenes etc being made at such a large scale might at some point cause monotony to the viewer ?.
Ali Asgar> Ya it will but when given an option to the audience they would still prefer the Saas Bahu conflict.
Himmat> Have you goofed up a shot anytime?
Ali Asgar> Ya I have once or twice.
