I remember while promoting DDD Ranveer mentioned that his mother and Sonams mother are cousins. So when they had some big parties going on Ranveer would attend but its not like he would hang out in their house. So Ranveer bonded only with the children and thats it but he never was a close family member or else Sonam would have talk about him earlier like she talks about Arjun. His advantage is that he lives in Bandra and knows a lot of Starkids but they are not his BFFs who would help him. Even if he was at those parties with these starkids he still was the outsider thats why Arjun said he knew Ranveer but they actually really become friendly when Arjun signed for YRF and later Gunday. People who helped him are his close friends and his own hard work. He struggled like any other non filmy person. Anil started to talk about Ranveer only after DDD and now after Ranveers success now people only wants to get closer and be all buddy buddy.

I agree with you eboza, Ranveer is second cousins with sonam and he knew some star kids while growing up coz he lived in the same area as them, but he wasn't close to them

That's why Ranverr didn't get any of thier help wen coming into the industry, anil and sonam didn't mention they had any relations to him wen he debuted, but now that he is mor popular they hav started to mention it

And even arjun only knew Ranveer growing up, they weren't close or best friends, that only happend once they both got signed to yrf

To be fair to Sonam I believe she was always nice to Veer even before his fame. She was a famous face earlier than him & he was the desperate vulgar crass struggler ( BW perception) But yes they were never close! Even the 2 Baabas were never close. Sonam has always been very close to Arjun. Sonam & Veer are related through Sonam's mother & Veer's father. They're first cousins I think.

He was close friends with Shaad Ali & Shanoo Sharma because they were school mates but he achieved all this only due to his determination & merit. His is an interesting case because though he is from a film I family, his case is that of a typical outsider.
