For me the best part was Lakshman. Kitna adorable Bhai hai. The way he goes on praising his brother and in the end eating happily. Food is tasty. While Ram is more concerned about the person who prepared it.
It showed a lot of things. Sita admiring Ram for protecting the horse. In a way he protects the visible nature, by that visible things from humans to animals to inanimate.
And he admires the way the ashram vasis are given internal protection. That is supporting them to take their fears away.
We need both external and internal security for our well being. And internal security more important because without that we cannot even fight for external security.
Sita becomes the fort or Durga providing defense. Whereas he stands to attack. And adharma can be bought down only with both defense and attack.
She trusts him to provide the external security, whereas he feels his task his made easier by her support in keeping the internal security.
And just like Ram admires the bowl of the food, while Lakshman eats happily was also symbolic. What was inside was more important to Lakshman, whereas for Ram who prepared it mattered.
See as far as the food is concerned both bowl and food are important. Food has to be good and how you serve it also holds important. We can treat the bowl as Ram and food inside as Sita. And when Lakhan is with Ram-Siya he is supremely happy and contented.
And for Ram he was checking whether the bowl fitted the food inside it.
