P.S. Lately I am a big fan of the Sanam music band, so I will be using their songs in the story quite often.

Chap 1:Blast from the past (15 days or so..)
Madhu looked at herself in the mirror. She looked pretty, well much better than she had expected to see herself in that gaudy attire. The lehenga would weigh at least 6-7 kilos and the heavy choker almost suffocated her out of breath. Her ear lobes were killing her with the heavy diamond dangler. She sighed one last time before pasting the superficial smile on her face; it was going to be her companion for the next 72 hours for sure.
"Oh my god! Look at this lovely angel," exclaimed Mrs. Ratnani as she entered the room.
"Hello Mrs. Ratnani, Madhu is ready. She will be at the lounge in a moment," replied Padmini, Madhu's mother while picking up all the scattered clothes and accessories from the bed and looking for any other remaining eyesore in front of Madhu's future mother-in-law.
"I told you, she would look her best in this lehenga," said Mrs. Ratnani while smoothing the fabric carefully on Madhu. "You will have to work lot harder to make her look prettier on the wedding night." Her innuendo was pointed to the fact that this lehenga was a gift to Madhu from her in-laws for the sangeet' ceremony. Madhu clearly did not understand whether she should take it as a compliment or otherwise. So, she just widened her smile a little more before returning to the default show.
Padmini, on the other hand, flashed her most dazzling smile and put Madhu's hand in Mrs. Ratnani's hand, saying, "She is your daughter now. So you know the best for her certainly."
In a few minutes Madhu was led to the enormous lounge of the wedding venue where the sangeet was organised. She vaguely remembered something about a big surprise or dhamaka' her fiance Rahul had planned for the sangeet. It was so inconsequential to her that she did not even care to press him about the big secret'. This wedding was way more extravagant than she had ever wished for, all courtesy to her opulent future in-laws. They had made a speech on how their son's wedding would be an iconic event in their circle, blah blah blah...
Madhu was welcomed by numerous known and unknown faces, uttering pleasantries on her looks and forthcoming wedding. She cringed at the loud music and the colourful flashing lights around her when she spotted her best friends Trishna, Preeti and Raika, giving her assuring smiles. Madhu swiftly moved close to them and blurted, "What am I putting myself up against!! This is a mayhem! I would have nightmares of my wedding ceremony for ages to come!"
"Oh dear! Don't worry. This is called wedding jitters. Take a deep breath, and everything will be fine," said Trishna while cupping her hands.
"And very soon people will forget about you tonight, Madhu. I heard your darling fianc has arranged a Bollywood night extravaganza for the sangeet. You can hide away from crowd then," winked Raika with a crooked smile.
Madhu rolled her eyes and as she was about to say something, she heard Rahul's voice, making some announcement. Out of nowhere she felt something uncanny, and knew what she was going to hear might not be too welcoming.
"Tonight, as I had promised to my darling future wife, I bring some eminent singers and musicians for making this sangeet as it should be," blared Rahul on the microphone. "But before the real surprise comes, as you know the big stars take some time to arrive and prepare, I introduce to you a newbie musical band who will entertain us till the real stars arrive. So here comes the Wavebass.."
Madhu and her friends turned their heads all at once to the centre stage and back at each other. "What are they doing here?" whispered Madhu frantically. Trishna signalled her not to react much while Preeti and Raika struggled to keep their laughter in control.
All the lights were put off, except for the blue screen at the back of the stage. The band members arrived one by one, their shadows creating a dramatic effect on the background screen. In all her trepidation, Madhu still marvelled Rahul's calibre for conceiving such a theatrical ambiance in their so called 'sangeet'.

The lead singer held the mouthpiece close to his lips and started singing in a seemingly trembling voice.
"Dilbar mere kab tak mujhe aise hi tadpaoge...
Main aag dil me laga dunga woh ki pal me bighal jaoge...
Ek din aayega ki pyar ho jayega...
Main aag dil me laga dunga woh ki pal me bighal jaoge..."
All the four girls, along with the rest of the audience gasped at the mesmerising effect of the voice as each and every word played with their senses. It took several moments for Madhu to realise that the singer was walking towards her and a blue spotlight followed him from top. She felt glued to her spot while all her friends and rest of the people seemed to be moving away from her.
"I am dreaming, this cannot be real. This is a nightmare," thought Madhu as the singer stood in front of her, flashing the so-much-familiar mischievous smile.
"Sochoge jab mere bare me tanhaiyo me...
Ghir jaoge aur bhi mere parchhiyo me..."
Madhu suddenly realised that a light had been spotted over her as well, and she was definitely the centre of this super embarrassing act in front of hundreds of people. But somehow she saw everyone cheering at her and the singer, and being amused by the whole role-play.
"I wish they had the slightest idea of what is exactly happening here," thought Madhu and closed her eyes for a moment. And at that very moment it dawned to her, oh yes, these people have no clue whatsoever about the real intentions of those super cheesy words of this song. They were not there at her hen party in Maldives with her best friends 15 days back. So why fear, go with the flow!!
But before she could go with the flow, she felt being led on to some suave dance steps.
"Dil se milega jo dil to mehekne lagoge...
Tum mere baahon me aake behekne lagoge...
Hosh kho jayega...pyar ho jayega..."
"That's my girl!" shouted Rahul from the crowd as he saw his fiance being turned and led into a sombrero by the singer. Madhu was amazed by her fianc's enthusiasm in seeing her dancing in another man's arm. She could not decide on whether to think of him as crazy or imbecile.
As suddenly as she was pulled into the dance, the singer let her go, and before moving away he leaned close to her ear and said, "Hi Madhu."
"Hi Rishabh."
"Missed me?" whispered Rishabh with a wink and backed away.
