They met as strangers on the sets of a show. Sanaya's first show as lead, Mohit's first show as an actor. Love at first sight? Far from it! When they first met, they both remember how they laughed for almost half an hour looking at each other, without saying a word!
After that, though, it took a while for the ice to crack. They remember that they barely spoke to each other the first couple of months. He thought she was too free with her words and laughter, she thought he was too quiet and serious. And then things started to change.

Onscreen, their love story was a love story of two opposite people. He played the loud, brash Casanova of the college, everyone's best friend, the darling of the college, while she was the shy, reserved nerdy girl with glasses, with no friends except her sister. Off screen, they were opposites too, but with the roles reversed. Sanaya was the boisterous, bindaas confident Parsi girl with the ability to laugh at everything, most of all herself, while Mohit was quiet, reserved, somewhat out of his element at first in a strange city. She was friendly with everyone, from co-actors to spotboys to production assistants to the stray animals on the sets, while he took time to make friends. But as they worked together, under the superficial differences, they found much in common. And as the love story between two opposites progressed on screen, alongside progressed in tandem, the off screen love story, following the same path ... from the first tentative friendship between two very different people, to a deeper closer friendship, to the stirrings of love. Rumours surfaced often from the sets about their growing closeness, and fans of the show watched keenly for signs to substantiate them. And finally, on the last day of the shoot of MJHT, Sanaya and Mohit confessed to their delighted fans that they were in love, they were indeed a couple'

It's been five years since then. Five years of a long, steady, stable relationship, which has only grown closer, deeper and stronger over the years. In the glamourous, often superficial world of television, where linkups and breakups are common, Sanaya and Mohit have been rock steady in their relationship. Over the years, they have faced the ups and downs in their lives together, hand in hand, always there for each other, to cheer together the highs, and hold hands through the lows. On the surface they are chalk and cheese ... she bright, bubbly, talkative, he quiet, calm, grounded. But under the surface, they have all the important things in common. Her purity of heart, her love and zest for life, her warm and caring nature matched by his goodness of heart and his quiet calmness. Mohit grounds Sanaya's exuberance, while his rock solid love gives her the wings to fly high. Sanaya's bubbliness and craziness lightens his more serious nature and brings fun and laughter into his life. They are both serious about things that matter, they both are family oriented, and very caring and warm hearted. The most beautiful thing about this couple is the deep respect, trust and honesty that underlies their relationship. Together they make the perfect couple ... made for each other ... -Known to her family and friends as Sanno, Sanny, San, and to her fans as Sunshine, Princess and the Barbie doll of television, Sanaya hails from an affluent Parsi family of Mumbai. She did her schooling at boarding school in Ooty, and then graduated from the prestigious Syndenham's College in Mumbai. A self confessed 'geek', she was preparing for her MBA entrance exams when her mother suggested she try modelling. Her first portfolio was by the renowned photographer and actor, Boman Irani. She did modelling for a couple of years, with substantial success, and also did a small role in a BW film, Fanaa, starring Aamir Khan and Kajol.

Sanaya then moved into television, starting with a cameo in the cult youth show Left Right Left, followed by a role with grey shades in Radha Ki Betiyaan. Her first lead role was the college show Miley Jab Hum Tum, where she played the shy, quiet geeky Gunjan, a role opposite in nature to her real personality. It was there she first met Mohit Sehgal, her costar, who soon became her best friend and the love of her life.

Sanaya later was part of the cult show, Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, which made her a household name in India and abroad. She has subsequently done two more lead roles, in Chhanchhan and Rangrasiya, and was the runner up in Jhalak Dikhla Jaa in 2015. She is currently one of the leading actresses on Indian television.

Mohit belongs to a well to do Punjabi business family from Delhi. Early in life, he was bitten by the acting bug, and after completing his education in Delhi, he turned his back on his family business and moved to Mumbai to try his luck in the glamour world. He acted in a small BW movie, and then was fortunate enough to land the plum lead role of Samrat in the cult youth show Miley Jab Hum Tum, where he played the flamboyant Casanova Samrat, heartthrob of a thousand girls in college.

Like Sanaya, Mohit's onscreen character was the opposite to his real life personality. Like his screen character, Mohit Sehgal too became the heartthrob of young girls all over India with this role. And also like Samrat, Mohit's heart soon started to beat only for one girl ... his best friend, Sanaya Irani.

Mohit subsequently acted in the long running Qubool Hai in a role with grey shades, which won him critical acclaim, and is currently the lead in Sarojini.

About Love and the Perfect Partner Sanaya : Never thought how my perfect man would be, because whatever u think, the exact opposite of it happens. Koi ideal man nahi hai, bas honest hona chahiye aur a good person hona chahiye, basMohit : pyaar ke bare main tum kuch nahi kehe sakthe, u know. Pyaar ho jaatha hai. aur kisse hota hai, kab hota hai u never know.

Mohit : I was very weird in the beginning, it took me 6 months to talk to Sanaya, usse pehle main baat nahin kar pata tha, time laga open up hone mein.Sanaya : I've had a very sad life, people might think that she might have been wooed by a lot of people, no, never! I have never been wooed! Mohit is the one who has made me feel ki theek hai there is a boy in my life now and it now exists and people just don't ignore me.

Many years back when I came across a beautiful girl I loved, I started learning more about her. And one of the first things I learned was about the guy who is in her life..and as I watched the serial they acted together for the first time not did I just fall in love with the couple in it, but actually prayed that that story would me mine in real life too..
Simply because what could be better than falling in love with your best friend and living your whole life with the one person who knows and loves you the best?

And that is when I learned that the actors who played those two beautiful characters were living that tale, in their own way. As they were first two strangers who later became the best of friends. And then came the unconditional love of lovers..
And 7 years later here we are on this blissful day when this beautiful couple actually makes you realize that dreams to come true, and that fairytales do exist..

Television actors Sanaya Irani and Mohit Sehgal who are all set to get married on Monday, 25th January celebrated their sundown party cum sangeet ceremony on Sunday, 24th January at Planet Hollywood, Goa.

'Subah Hone Naa Raat Sone Naa De'; yes this is what the couple kept singing during the entire occasion. Decked up in pink cropped top and a floral skirt, Sanaya looked beautiful; whereas Mohit Sehgal was spotted wearing Jodhpuri pyjama with a cropped brown colored jacket.

At the ceremony, Bollywood music like Gulabon, Jumme Ki Raat, Gandi Baat, London Thumka, Amritsari Chudiyaan and many such popular tunes were played. And later on, the night was followed by the English songs.

Amongst the guests at the sangeet were Drashti Dhami, Barun Sobti, Rakesh Vashist, Kinshuk Mahajan and Arjun Bijlani.

Television heartthrobs Sanaya Irani and Mohit Sehgal kick-started their wedding celebrations on January 24 at a posh hotel in Goa with family and close pals.

It was a beautiful sangeet cum cocktail night and a very well curated at that. The stars of the evening, Sanaya and Mohit, donned a gypsy look setting the theme for the evening. With everything so nicely hashed out, the celebrations were enjoyed by all to the hilt.
